Rudy Guiliani Warns Of Palestinian State (Breaks With Bush On Middle East Policy Alert)
Ynet ^ | 08/14/2007 | N/A

Republican 2008 White House front-runner Rudolph Giuliani warned Tuesday it was not in the interest of the United States to help create a Palestinian state that would "support terrorism."

In an article in the journal Foreign Affairs, the former New York mayor also said too much emphasis had been placed on Israeli-Palestinian peace talks which he said just brought up the same issues "again and again."

Giuliani renamed the US "war on terror" as "the Terrorists' War on US" in his hawkish article in the September/October issue of the magazine, and predicted a long battle against "radical Islamic fascism."

In the latest of a series of essays in Foreign Affairs by presidential candidates, Giuliani also predicted US troops would still be in Iraq and Afghanistan when the next President takes office in January, 2009.

He argued that the problem for Palestinians since the Islamist movement Hamas won parliamentary elections last year, was not a "lack of statehood" but good governance.

"Too much emphasis has been placed on brokering negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians -- negotiations that bring up the same issues again and again," he wrote.

"It is not in the interests of the United States, at a time when it is being threatened by Islamist terrorists, to assist the creation of another state that will support terrorism," Giuliani wrote.

"Palestinian statehood will have to be earned through sustained good governance, a clear commitment to fighting terrorism, and a willingness to live in peace with Israel." ...

"The Terrorists' War on US was encouraged by unrealistic and inconsistent actions taken in response to terrorist attacks in the past. A realistic peace can only be achieved through strength," Giuliani said, in a thinly veiled attack on former President Bill Clinton's administration.

This can’t hurt Rudy’s chances. I can’t disagree with what he said the Palestinians have missed every opportunity to join the civilized world it’s time to wipe the slate clean and get a new batch of morons, these have gone sour!

Palestinians will not respect a man that dresses in women’s clothes. Anything that he proposes will put our soldiers in harms way.

Any GOP candidate who does not exploit this picture of Hillary embracing Suha Arafat doesn't deserve to be President:

Hmmm.

One of the few sensible things I’ve heard him say. I wonder if the other pubbies will follow suit.

Maybe Rudy would make a good Secretary of State. He’s not very diplomatic, which I consider a plus.

So, the cross-dressing, Homosexual-loving, gun-grabbing, baby-killing, free-speech-hating, uber-liberal from New Your is correct on this issue... nice. So where does Hillary stand on this issue?

This is only common sense—a Palestinian state is not in our national interest. Indeed, it reflects Bush’s stance in the early part of his Presidency. Unfortunately, those at the State Dep have a vested interest in endless Israeli-Palestinian “peace” talks.

The implication being that Rudy regularly dresses in women's clothes, or that he is a cross-dresser? Get a life.

Careful, now. A statement like that will brand you as a RINO lover.

Tell that to the Arabs. That is who you need to convince. I hear they are real understanding people.

I don’t get this whole “cross-dressing” Rudy thing. He did that for a comedy show, like thousands of other guys, from Jack Benny to Milton Berle to Martin Lawrence. are we going to start casting aspersions on Johnny Carson for playing “Aunt Blabby”?

The Palestinians hate Israel.

Israel hates the Palestinians.

This conflict goes back thousands of years.

For a politician to think that he/she can solve this conflict is the height of arrogance.

I have no use at all for Rootie. But I’ve got to give him credit for saying what’s needed to be said for years.

Ok. Rudy has my vote for comedian.

Perhaps he should go to Gaza and show them exactly what he performed. Yeah, that would be fun to watch. LOL!

Well yes, he is correct on this issue.

Skipping they typical FR anti-Rudy nonsense can you explain why creating a terror state in the region should be the cornerstone of American foreign policy?

Reference this article. Is a sovereign state whith these characteristics something as an American you'll be proud of creating? Do you take pride in the accomplishment?

  • Its new constitution would not allow for any juridical status for Judaism.
  • Jews would not even be allowed to live in the country.
  • Selling land to a Jew would be a capital crime.
  • The new school system would inculcate children to make war on the Jews.
  • Those who murdered Jews would become the national heroes of the new country.
  • Their designated head of state earned his Ph.D. on the thesis that 6 million Jews were not really murdered during World War II, and that the Zionists were actually allies of the Nazis.

Should America and the Euros take pride in financing a press and educational system which teaches.

I haven't a clue what Hillary thinks, her husband was enamored with the same negotiation strategy of ignoring palestinian failures. GWB's vision is certainly more harmful to Israel in the long run, though that's largely a result of continuing Clinton policies of appeasement, inherited from Bush I.

It is GWB's State Dept. It's probably a mistake to blame it on them.

Well, it's fun for some people. To what extent it represents an unwillingness to confront him on the issues, and he's deficient on many, I don't know. Rudy's middle east policy doesn't differ dramatically from any of the Republican candidates save Paul.
