The President and the first lady are continuing their vacation in Crawford Texas.

Today it was announced by the White House that Jenna Bush became engaged yesterday to her long term boy friend Henry Hager.

This week the Vice President's wife Lynne Cheney turned 66 today I have put together a few of my thoughts about this remarkable women, including an impassioned statement from her during the 2004 campaign and some photos of her through the years.

During the 2004 election campaign Lynne Cheney played a role that I believe that has been under estimated by many including a lot of so called political experts.

Many of the attacks on the Vice President during the campaign were for certain comments he allegedly made in fact although he did pick up on these comments subsequently they were in fact were originally made by Lynne Cheney and I quote probably the most famous of the campaign though I believe her sensitive war comment was the most politically astute.

“”Remarks of Mrs. Cheney and the Vice President Following a Debate Watching Party
Embassy Suites Hotel
Coraopolis, Pennsylvania
October 13, 2004
10:47 P.M. EDT

MRS. CHENEY: Was our man great tonight? (Applause.) This is the President that has made us proud for four years, and he will make us proud for the next four. (Applause.)

Now, I did have a chance to assess John Kerry once more. And the only thing I could conclude is this is not a good man. This is not a good man. And of course, I am speaking as a mom and a pretty indignant mom. This is not a good man — what a cheap and tawdry political trick. (Applause.)

You know what he has been doing for this whole campaign is trying to dress up his political record any way he can; trying to hide, obscure, make sure we don’t notice that 20-year record in the Senate. And didn’t the President do a great job of bringing it out? (Applause.)
John Kerry tries to put a bunch of fancy, fancy talk — tried to disguise that record, sort of like his fancy haircut, fancy manicure, tried to disguise the whole thing. (Laughter.) But there is nothing you can do to really — to really obscure that record. You can try, though. And in Wyoming, we’ve got a saying for what it is when you keep trying to make something that’s not so good look good, we call it putting lipstick on a pig. (Laughter.) Yes. (Applause.) And it doesn’t work.

It doesn’t work, does it, Mr. Vice President? You’re on. (Applause.)

AUDIENCE: Four more years! Four more years! Four more years!

THE VICE PRESIDENT: Well, I’m glad Lynne is on my side. (Laughter.)*****

She is brilliant in the off the cuff remarks which the Vice President during the 2004 campaign picked up and ran with subsequently, such as sensitve war, sun tan jokes and the lipstick on the pig remark.

I’d like to say it was luck...but I must of been led by Our Lord. I decided to take a look to see if the thread was up yet ‘cause of Jenna’s announcement. I said to myself wonder how many post there’ll be. And low and behold it didn’t have any post... LOL...
