Just finished reading “On The Hunt” by Col. David Hunt,, US Army, Ret. (Fox News). The Britts and all of Washington should read it. He tells it like it is, and what needs to be done.

Good Lord - I could have told you the source without looking it up. Blah blah blah all is lost blah blah we're doomed blah blah those bloody Yanks can't do anything right blah blah Bush lied blah blah blah blah we have to distance Labour, the source of all that is good and right, from Bush and his evil minions, blah blah blah...

This is a very illuminating article otherwise - it is a snapshot of the upcoming game plan of the Left in the MSM. These people are frightened to death of what General Petraeus is likely to report in September and so are embarked in a little pre-emptive character assassination. He's political, he's biased, he'll say anything... Everything you hear that is positive is a lie, everything you hear that is negative is to be believed uncritically and is proof that "we" were right about the war all along. Oh, and did we mention Bush lied?

That's pretty much it - the rest of the article is pessimistic fluff. Quoting Peggy Noonan on Bush, for example - why didn't they just quote Begala or Olbermann? Better still is this little gem of objective journalism:

Antiwar critics used to be said to suffer from Bush derangement syndrome. Now those who back Bush are the ones who appear out of touch with reality.

That isn't anyone they quoted, by the way, it's the written opinion of the journalists themselves. File that one under "bias."

If anyone has lost the will to anything it is certainly due not to any "fatigue" about the war, which has, after all, had minimal effect on anything in the United States other than politics, but due to the incessant drumbeat of negativity and hostility on the part of an international press who has been nearly unanimously working desperately for defeat for the U.S. from the beginning. The war is not a failure because those who want it to be say so. We are not losing because reporters who want to relay that impression do so.

One does not need to bribe or twist
The arm of the British journalist
Considering what he would do
Unasked, their is no reason to.

Would either one or both of you expand on your answer a bit?
It worries me that both of you have been around here for a long time and have such negative feelings about our country.
I personally don’t think America has lost the will, but certain Americans have. You know who they are. And they are loud and have the megaphone of the MSM and are the MSM
in many cases. And this is not an argumentative post, just curious.

I no longer have trust or confidence in the patriotism, valor, fidelity or abilities of the American people to carry out or prosecute a war for their own survival.

Yes, the noise from the Left is deafening, but even more deafening is the silence from the rest. I went to Iraq for nothing.

You are right in that “certain Americans” have lost their will. In fact, I’d say they never had the will to begin with. Unfortunately, those “certain Americans” have a very loud voice and the ear of the Hillary Supporting media that is on their side today.

As I see it, if our All Volunteer Troops have the will to succeed, so should we.

That’s why I want to see Cheney still in office through 2012. He apparently doesn’t want the Presidency, but we need his experience as a third-term vice-president. Cheney fans might give him five terms.

Sarge, it ain’t over until it’s over. Our media doesn’t want good news or Heroic story’s, they want to implement another cut and run defeat. That’s why so many of us aren’t listening to them or following them, we are bypassing the leftist Hillary Supporting media, especially in the 2008 election and spreading the word of the most conservative candidate running.

Never say you went for nothing. Like us when they pulled us out of Viet Nam, we did do something there and were winning, until they turned on us, even though we weren’t allowed to fully fight it.

If nothing else, know you stood for what is right once in your lifetime. Few in society today can make that claim honestly.

Wars are won by inventing something new and strong, while another works like crazy to ruin the new invention. War is like that. We win, because our troops fight and win a slab of land. The enemy tries to recapture that slab of land. A company invents a new powerful piece of equipment, the “other side” (friends) try to show it’s vulnability. That is the way war is. We fight like crazy, we make a few mistakes, we rectify those mistakes and take the high ground. Americans for the most part don’t understand this. The country that makes the least amount of mistakes wins. It’s always been this way, it will always be this way. If we didn’t have so many non interested, non learned in military tactic reporting the news we would have a better understanding of what is going on in our War on Terror. The WOT is world wide, but our presstitutes of the screaming media do not want the American public to know or realize this piece of information. The muslim terrorists have been terrorizing and burning Christian churches and property since the 1960s. Our screaming media has been very silent about these offences. They have also been very quiet about the goings on in Kosovo, Croatia, Albania and other countries in that area. Will they tell you what’s going one????? I doubt it, cause they don’t have the will or knowledge of the politics and enthenticities of that area, nor will they even try to learn.

No Sarge, the American public has not lost the will to win, it’s the presstitutes of the screaming media, including Fox. These people need something new and exciting every few seconds to breahtly report.

It has been reported that the American public has no patience, but having been in business and met with business people, Americans for the most part have a lot of patiences. We are strong and we are resolute. We will win, we will not give up. For those naysayers, move to Mexico, they have a lot like you.

I am retired and just sit here in front of the puter all day and read and watch the news. It may be my age catching up with me, but I sense a shift in winds from the left. I feel as though they are beginning to realize that this war may indeed be winnable and we are/may be winning. The looney left will never change their minds. But politicians seem to be hedging their bets, especially those who will be up for reelection. You can already see that the left is terrified of Petraeus(sp) and what he is going to report. I recently started reading Flags of Our Fathers. In it there is a bit about some Americans wanting to make accommodations with the Japanese after the slaughter on the beaches like Tarawa and Wake, et al. We will always have the quitters, but America is not a quitter.

Gotta agree. The surge came late. It should have been recognized that it was needed a long time ago.

Casino, you are right. The anti-war crowd has always been with us. They were ignored and minimized for the most part, until the 1960's when the public started listening to them more than before.

Even World War Two had it's prominent critics. Charles Lindbergh Warns America Not To Enter WW2 On April 23, 1941

America hasn’t lost the will to win yet, but it’s being bred out of our children by the public school system as
fast as they can convince them that there doesn’t have to be “winners and losers”.
