We need a President to spend less time at the bench press and more time in the library
The Prometheus Institute ^ | 8/21/2007 | Justin Hartfield

find a strong parallel between the mentality of these creatine-loving individuals and the mentality of our current Administration on foreign policy. Mr. Bush loves to use the brute force of the American military to scare potential enemies into submission, while also giving the proverbial dead lift to any country to whom he chooses to "bring" democracy. Like our friends in the raised Silverado Z71, the Bush Doctrine is chock-full of brute strength, but lacks true power, flexibility, focus, and endurance.

It lacks power because it has severely overestimated our military's ability to lift a country to peaceful democracy. It lacks focus because as our troops are dying around the world, the 9/11 mastermind still roams the world free. It lacks flexibility because our military occupation inhibits our ability to respond to potential new conflicts. And it lacks endurance because there is no clear stopping point to this military onslaught euphemistically referred to as the War on Terror.

America's military policy needs to work smarter, not harder. We need a President to behave less like the dude who always seems to be at the bench press, and more like someone who spends his time in the library.

Dubya reads 2-3 books a week. They are not all novels.

This guy doesn’t keep up with History. Clnton failed because he did confront the enemy .
Our enemy only knows power and this is what Bush knows.

We tried it your way, "Justin", with Rhodes Scholar Bubba, who spent more time w/ Arafat than any other world leader.

And look what all that negotiating, talking, and thinking got us.

"Justin", talk to Vanna a buy a clue.

Considering that the man married a librarian, I'd say that he is probably well read.

This guy doesn’t keep up with History.

He knows what history is and that he makes history. Also, he knows more history than most college grads.

If Mr. Bush researched the history of terrorist attacks on the U.S., he would notice that they were all committed in direct response to American intervention in the Middle East.

Ah yes, it's all our fault the poor muslims attack every other religion on the planet. The evil Americans make them attack us. This crap was old news almost 1400 years ago. The muslims attacked because they are muslim. Their book commands them to. Someone needs to pick up a damn book here and I think the author should go first.

Good grief, this was written by a “man?” Read the whole thing (it’s short): George W. is a warmonger because he stays in shape. The U.S. is big and stupid and aggressive and just plain icky-poo.

The article once again trots out the meme that the terrorists are after us because of our outrageous provocations, i.e. it’s all our fault because we support Israel and we’re just too big and arrogant for our own good and we deserve to be cut down to size and Dubya is just like a big, stupid, steroidal gym rat and...

The last editorial that took this theme implied that politicians (like the President and Governor Mike Huckabee in that instance) who kept themselves in shape were “lean and hungry” (dusting off Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar” quote) and not to be trusted on that basis while dear old gentle Al Gore was much to be preferred because he was nice and roly poly.

This fat acceptance thing is getting seriously out of hand. Now they’re trying to change beauty standards for politicos. Oh, and by the way, America is a mean, rotten warmongering stinky-pants, but you knew that already.

Yes, he should pick up a Koran instead of a Communist Manifesto.

I’m so sick of this crapola about “American INTERVENTION” - what intervention? Did it involve decapitations as our poor victims like to do? Or stoning women for what their brothers did?

Oh, what HORRIBLE intervention! It certainly deserves 3000 people killed in 1 hr’s short time!

“we’re just too big and arrogant for our own good and we deserve to be cut down to size”

I nominate him and all other America-hating liberals (that’s 90% of them) to be the 1st in the down-sizing.

Clinton DID confront the enemy.

Every now and then he shot a cruise missile in their general direction then got on TV and beat his chest.

I would like to see and hear this Justin Hartfield.

Ten bucks says he’s got that whiny, effeminate, testosterone-free voice shared by RFK Jr. and Markos “Daily Kos” Moulitsas (to name just two).

Dubya has read both Dilthey and Schleiermacher. Justin Hartfield wonders which paper they work for.

What a stupid piece. Bush is actually way too soft on terrorists and their supporters. Have you noticed the way he's supporting the Fatah terrorists, letting Iran and Syria help kill our troops in Iraq, selling millions of dollars of military stuff to the Saudis, wanting to have talks with the Muslim Brotherhood, and being a kiss-ass in general to the "religion of peace" whether that means appointing an envoy to the OIC, going to that mosque in D.C. a month or so ago, or having people with terror ties in photo ops with him.

Bush too forceful? You're making me laugh.
