>>Screw the pickup. Either announce that youre running or step aside. This coy act is extremely old and annoying. I was a Fred! guy, but Im sick of this. This isnt a game, Mr. Thompson. Run or get the hell out of the way.<<

Good evening. I am here tonight to announce my intention to seek the Republican nomination for President of the United States. <<
3. It almost sounds like you have some other candidate.
Which is fine, of course.

1) Correct. It is early.
2) This is NOT 1979. It’s 2007. Things change.
3) I don’t really have another candidate that I’m excited about. I like Hunter, and Romney is starting to grow on me, but nobody to really rally behind.

1. Its early Exhibit #1 >>Ronald Reagan Announcing his candidacy for President New York Hilton November 13, 1979 When Reagan ran, the NH Primary was the first week of March. There's every indication that this time it will be moved up to December of 2007. Furthermore, Reagan had nearly won the nomination in '76, and so was already well known and vetted. It isn't 1980, Carter isn't in the WH, and Fred Thompson is no Ronald Reagan.
