Has Maliki Ended The Insurgency?breaking news
http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/ ^

Earlier today, the Italian news service AKI reported that the presumed leader of the largest insurgency in Iraq will start cooperating with the Iraqi government. Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, one of the highest-ranking members of Saddam Hussein's government, reportedly pledged to work with Iraqi and American forces to fight al-Qaeda in Iraq:

The leader of Iraq's banned Baath party, Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, has decided to join efforts by the Iraqi authorities to fight al-Qaeda, one of the party's former top officials, Abu Wisam al-Jashaami, told pan-Arab daily Al Hayat. "AlDouri has decided to sever ties with al-Qaeda and sign up to the programme of the national resistance, which includes routing Islamist terrorists and opening up dialogue with the Baghdad government and foreign forces," al-Jashaami said.

Al-Douri has decided to deal directly with US forces in Iraq, according to al-Jashaami. He figures in the 55-card deck of "most wanted" officials from the former Iraqi regime issued by the US government.

In return, for cooperating in the fight against al-Qaeda, al-Douri has asked for guarantees over his men's safety and for an end to Iraqi army attacks on his militias.

Recent weeks have seen a first step in this direction, when Baathist fighters cooperated with Iraqi government forces in hunting down al-Qaeda operatives in the volatile Diyala province and in several districts of the capital, Baghadad.

This could be game, set, and match for the Iraq War. Some smaller insurgent elements assisted in clearing Baqubah as a test to see whether an alliance with Americans would work. Apparently, the experiment worked. If al-Douri accepts the authority of the elected Iraqi government, then almost all of the resistance in western Iraq will disappear -- leaving AQI very exposed.

If this true, it is excellent news indeed. It means that Al Douri finally realized that he that Baathist terrorists cannot defeat the American military and could not break the will of President Bush and a minority of Patriots who support the war, so he chose “peace with honor”.

Thanks for the ping. Already was onboard as Ernest pinged me earlier on. Hopefully we shall see likeminded news reports to fully verify this new development.
This will put the last nails in the coffin for AQIR by all indications. The Iraqi are forcing themselves to awaken from all their misconceptions and ill informed leaders, e.g. immans and other clowns who reil them up.
Of course Izzat probably just ran out of all the bags of money smuggled into Syria in 2003. Gotta hit the rack. 3:30AM is soon upon me. work work work.

I suspect this is real, even though I know there are many skeptics. There is a lot of pressure being brought to bear, and the results are undeniable. Al Douri isn’t immune to the presure either.

Yep,like when Patton proposed that the Nazi Party Officials should stay to run the bureaucracy, fire departments, water etc...Not the first time, nor will it be the last.Just an expediency, a necessary evil sometimes. And don’t forget those old scientists skulking the halls of Nasa in the fifties and sixties humming some old marching tunes.

Interesting thread

But I see Bush doing the “compartmentalize” BS of Slick Willie as only one token illegal alien for snowing the base and getting huge lib media PR just ain’t gettin’ it

Dealing from the bottom of the deck on borders, illegal aliens, catch and release to rape & kill again is still going on

These CEOs and managers at companies need to be publicly exposed on personal and business info and put in orange jumpsuits like Susan McDougall & the ENRON crooks were

Failing to do this and enforce the laws is inviting sure and unpleasant surprises for corporate crooks who hire and continue to employ illegal aliens

In the near future I forsee the types of actions of ALF, ELF, RUCKUS and others upon some politicians and CEOs and Board members

Do I advocate it?

No

Would I cry for them?

Take a wild guess

They are just minor league clones of Marc Rich

Except they are importing and employing MS13 and stonecold killers and rapists

[Except they are importing and employing MS13 and stonecold killers and rapists]

The Ann Coulter article would be a good one to save, she listed quite a few incidences of illegals committing terrible crimes.

I have read quite a few articles lately telling of crackdowns in many cities against illegals. Even that illegals were moving out of certain areas after having lost their jobs because the employers were ‘shut down’ for employing them.

In my city 16 illegals were arrested the day before yesterday. I have seen some hopeful signs but it’s by the cities, not the government itself.

This is major. Not sure what Maliki has to do with it, though.

Prs. Bush confirmed those numbers to me last August: 1,500 a month is, I think, an increase (about 18,000 a year, which, if it had been steady since 2003, would put us at about 56,000 dead---which is the top end of my estimate.) I think we've actually "surged the surge!"

Southack, did you hear Pres. Bush say this today?
