Reid: NIE Highlights Need For Urgent Change In Iraq Policy

Washington, DC—Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made the following statement today, following the release of the National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq:

“Today’s National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq confirms what most Americans already know: Our troops are mired in an Iraqi civil war and the President’s escalation strategy has failed to produce the political results he promised to our troops and the American people.

Our troops have done everything asked of them and more. Unfortunately Iraq’s leaders have not. And as today’s NIE makes clear, a political solution is extremely unlikely in the near term. Further pursuit of the Administration’s flawed escalation strategy is not in our nation’s best interests.

Every day that we continue to stick to the President’s flawed strategy is a day that America is not as secure as it could be. As the intelligence community reported in another NIE just weeks ago, America’s attention is distracted from Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda, which has regenerated its capacity to its pre-9/11 levels. That is why it is so essential that this September, Republicans join with Democrats to change course in Iraq and work to restore our nation’s security.”

Harry Reid must really like the taste of his foot.

Can’t think of another explanation that holds water.

Harry Reid in 2007: "The war is lost! The surge has failed!" [Thinks]Uh-oh, the troops have made progress. Crap, Bush was right! Quick, find a plan to make it look like we've lost! "Uh...the report from General Petraeus is false?"

Harry Reid in 2008: "What do you mean I'm Senate MINORITY Leader?"

There is absolutely no opinion Reid would have that would interest me. He has said the war in Iraq is already lost and will stick to that in some form or another no matter the facts.

All these Dems calling for Maliki to step down are really intent on disrupting any continuity of Iraqi leadership so as to diminish any success resulting from the current military “surge” strategy. They have been unable to de-rail Bush so they are turning their attention to knocking off Maliki.

It really is like the rantings of a raving maniac - and these kooks may be running and ruining our country soon!

Can't some republicans just step on this bug loudly for his engaging in rank nutty partisanship in the middle of a war?

Now the president somehow lied to the troops about political developments in Iraq? I don't think so. This Reid is spitting straight in the face of the troops as they succeed and someone needs to call him on it.

Intelligence Assessment Suggests Now Is Not Time to Change Mission in Iraq

Thursday , August 23, 2007

WASHINGTON —
Shifting the U.S. military mission in Iraq to only combat support and terror-fighting will wipe out most of the achievements made in the last three years, warns the latest National Intelligence Estimate released Thursday.

That dire prediction, buried deep within the unclassified version of the report, states:

“We assess that changing the mission of coalition forces from a primarily counterinsurgency and stabilization role to a primary combat support role for Iraqi forces and counterterrorist operations to prevent AQI (Al-Qaeda in Iraq) from establishing a safe haven would erode security gains achieved thus far,” the report states.

If there were a “Tokyo Rose” broadcasting for the enemy in Bagdhad, wouldn’t they issue statements EXACTLY like this one from Reid?

Funny none of the Democrat Clowns had a word to say when Osama was out there freely blowing up U.S. Military Personal in the 1990’s and we were outsourcing our troops to the Balkans to do what the Europeans would not in saving their kinsmen.

F*ck you Harry Reid and the horse you rode in on, better yet I hope the horse is doing you!

Yeh - so the intelligence estimate says precisely the opposite of the crap Harry is spouting. No real surprise there. I agree with whoever above who said he didn't bother to read it.

Note the rather crude working in of "mired," "civil war," and "escalation" into a single sentence. Subtle as a sack of wet cement. People who speak in cliches tend to think in them as well. Thinking isn't Harry's strong suit either.

“Harry Reid in 2008: “What do you mean I’m Senate MINORITY Leader?”

Ol’ Harry is definately gone from a never been to a has been. This is the kind of trash merchant the left selected as their leader in the senate. It tells you the quality of this pathetic collection of clowns.

The message of Tokyo Rose:

1. Your President is lying to you.

2. This war is illegal.

3. You cannot win the war.

Keep it up, Tokyo Harry...
