Fred D. Thompson rose to national prominence in the mid-1970s. As chief counsel to the Republicans on the Senate Watergate Committee, he famously asked the question that revealed the existence of the White House taping system that ultimately led to President Richard M. Nixon's resignation. But Mr. Thompson was also an active participant in the White House's efforts to deflect blame from the president and discredit his accusers, plotting strategy with Mr. Nixon's lawyers and leaking information to them. He was paranoid and choose poorly to be loyal to people who he found had acted out illegal actions.

Big mistake, ended his Presidency.

And created the environmental red tape that is one of the chief reasons why America is losing its manufacturing strength (along with red tape favoring unions* and other garbage).

*I’m all for unions, when done properly, as I see nothing wrong with collective bargaining. I am against the structure set up by law/regulations that hampers employers’ abilities to tell unions to get stuffed.

I really don’t have a problem with NAFTA.

I have a problem with the USA not enforcing its rights under NAFTA, while Mexico/Canada do so.
