Yes. Absolutely true. Judith Exner, JFK’s lover, recounted taking a manilia envelope back and forth between JFK and her “other” lover, Giancana. She said she never looked inside-—which was why she lived so long. But this is believed to be the deal between JFK and the mob in which they gave him votes and he would “call off” Bobby from his Attorney General attacks on the Mafia. But Bobby didn’t, which was why the mob had it out for the Kennedys after the 1960 election.

Thanks for the confirmation, LS. I guess no matter how shady politics seem today, we’re probably better off WITHOUT the involvement of organized crime (though, the cynic might suggest that party politics today IS organized crime.)
