I hope you get better, FRiend. That is QUITE the unfortunate coincidence. Stay well.

My concerns, while admittedly somewhat political, are that no one seems to care that Fred Thompson, a senior citizen, has young children who need him around for some time. What life-shortening effects would just the run for the Presidency - nevermind the rigors of the office itself - have on that? It seems everyone wants a Hollywood-style rock-star stud, and doesn’t give a damn about the man’s well-being.

I understand your point. But as the POTUS, he would have the best healthcare out there. Look at Ronaldo Magnus, he was treated for colon cancer while in office and was older than Fred when he was elected.
And thanks for the kind words. Both my Father and I have a great Oncologist, (the same guy), and I live in a country with the best health care system in the world. We are the only Father and son team in the office. We actually find the whole situation a bit amusing. I know that doesn’t make sense. You have to be there to get the irony of it all. I never smoked, drank or did drugs and I get this at age 52. My Father drank, lots and often, for sixty years and this his first health issue. God certainly has a sense of humor, and irony. I consider myself a very lucky person.

It’s just so great that we FReepers have you around to think deep thoughts for us-—about FRed’s life and his children. The rest of us are so shallow. Sounds like FRed is too—but then, it’s his life to lead, isn’t it? He doesn’t need a nanny like you to take care of his life.
You must be a Romney fan. Take your concern for FRed and put it in your ear.

Isn’t that sweet. You care about his well-being. And all this time I thought you were trying to use the lowest of low tactics just to bash Fred Thompson in a futile attempt to boost your pathetic loser of a vanity candidate.

Save your crocodile tears, Nurse Ratchett.

Your concern for Fred’s health is about as convincing as a vulture licking his chops.

See, it’s a conservative principle to allow people to make their OWN decisions. I’m sick of all this nanny-state garbage.

You must love Huckabee.

I think your “concerns” are in fact, extremely political. And the majority of the republican candidates apparently fall into your “senior citizen” category, but come to think of it, so does a big percentage of the voters any more, a it’s a percentage that is increasing every year, I might add. Since when has maturity and experience associated with living more years on the planet become a negative in an elected official??

So you’re insinuating that Fred is apparently too selfish, too stupid or too power-hungry to consider his own family and the impact that a POTUS run will have on them. What crap.

Let me tell you something, the fact that he IS oonsidering his children and family and their futures, along with that of the nation, is a huge reason that he’s running in the first place.

Actually a younger candidate like Obama is just what Hollywood would dream up. What most people on this board want is a candidate that can beat the RATS in 2008 and carry forth our principles.

Cry about it all you want, but Hunter, Tancredo and Huckabee just can’t accomplish the first goal. And Romney, Bloomberg, and Rudy can’t accomplish the second.
