WASHINGTON - Sen. Larry Craig will file court documents Monday asking to withdraw his guilty plea in a sex sting that seems likely to end his career, his attorney said.
Craig, an Idaho Republican, pleaded guilty in August to disorderly conduct following a sting operation in a men’s bathroom at the Minneapolis airport.
He has said he regrets that decision, which he said he made hastily and without talking to an attorney. He said he was under stress and pleaded guilty only to put the matter behind him.
Attorney William Martin said Sunday night that a request to withdraw that plea would be filed Monday. Such requests are rarely granted. Martin would not discuss the argument he planned to make in court.

Hope he uses his usual wide-stance approach whilst asking to withdraw his plea. But he might cite a constitutional argument about congressmen not being subject to arrest going to or coming from congress.

Why not. He did spend 25 years in the HOuse and Senate. During this time his voting record was overwhelmingly conservative. He has a right to have his day in court just as you have a right to your opinions.
And when Arlen calls someone "unintelligent", he knows what he's talkin' about!
Just one more right he waived in open court , along with his right to appeal , when he plead Guilty .
He knowingly chose to waive that right when he pled guilty. In the absence of any evidence of fraud on the part of the prosecutor, he should not be allowed to rescind that plea.
He didn’t call someone unintelligent, he called the action unintelligent.
He lost his opportunity for his case to be adjudicated when he plead guilty.
Finally, gay men in Idaho have the kind of senator they can stand behind...
He was intimidated knowing that people like those posting on this thread would never excuse him being charged with a public, homosexual offense. So he copped a plea hoping no one would connect Larry Craig with Senator Larry Craig.
A big mistake both legally and morally; however, the court can deny his request in which case the appeals could take years.
In the meantime, I fail to understand why many on this thread are so angry with him. In the meantime, sooner or later, Republicans will have to decide whether they should have an exclusionary rule for homosexuals—for party membership and holding office?
