I was sitting in a hotel restaurant in Detroit eating breakfast and watching the big screen TV with a co-worker. We were on a business trip installing a new network in a new branch startup ( We were actually in Auburn Hills). I watched the second plane hit on that TV, and everything became instantly clear, we were being attacked.
Many miles from home, driving a rental car that Enterprise wanted back badly. It was obvious that our return flights to Indianapolis weren’t going to happen after a bit and realizing what was happening was real. We went to the branch right away and the conference room was full, the entire staff was sitting there, watching the big TV, silent. I stood in that conference room and watched those buildings fall. I
Enterprise kept calling my cell asking when we would be returning the car. I told them they could have it back when I got to Indianapolis. We drove home, a long silent drive, watching the gas stations jack gas up to unaffordable prices. Lines to get gas were an hour long in some places. As with almost everyone else, that day is etched in my mind like a permanent recording, I remember almost every detail... especially the sick feeling I had for weeks afterwards, and still to some extent to this day.
I pray... God watch over the families and souls of those lost on that day due to this barbaric attack on freedom. Show them the way of God and help them to feel comforted. Above all, let them live and forgive, but not forget.
