Thanks for the links to that 9-11 thread. I was impressed with Trueblackman's post.

I was a freshman computer science student, and that day was our school's "field trip" to a technology show in Atlanta.

We drove down from Chattanooga in several school vans...one of the vans pulled even with ours and held a paper up to the window, "Turn on the radio!"

Our professors discussed what to do, weighing whether to turn around to the safety of TN or go on to the Atlanta convention center, very near to the CNN HQ...we decided to go on, but the trade show was mostly a flop, of course, with virtually everyone clustered around the massive TVoIP screens. A few hours later, the trade show collapsed as company reps packed up and left, many of them having fellow employees in the WTCs...

I remember telling a classmate that day, "This means war."

Back in my BR days (before Rush), I used to listen to sportscaster Jim Rome’s radio show. One day, not too long after 9/11, he had Bo Jackson on his show...Bo was supposed to have been on the program a little earlier, but was delayed because of some extra security, and he told Romey, “Just give me five minutes with that damn Bin Laden” or something like that. He also said that, though he had a bad knee (the reason he retired from the Raiders), if the President had asked him to do anything, even to fly a jet plane, he would have done it.

This was before my political days, so I thought it was pretty cool for someone to say that. Plus, even with bad wheels, you still didn’t want to mess with Bo!
