A New Strain of Anti-Semitism is Spreading

Who recently said: "These Jews started 19 Crusades. The 19th was World War (1). Why? Only to build Israel."

Some holdover Nazi?

Hardly. It was former Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan of Turkey, a NATO ally. He went on to claim that the Jews -- whom he refers to as "bacteria" -- controlled China, India and Japan, and ran the United States.

Who alleged: "The Arabs who were involved in 9/11 cooperated with the Zionists, actually. It was a cooperation. They gave them the perfect excuse to denounce all Arabs."

A conspiracy nut?

Actually, it was former Democratic U.S. Sen. James Abourezk of South Dakota. He denounced Israel on a Hezbollah-owned television station, adding: "I marveled at the Hezbollah resistance to Israel. . . . It was a marvel of organization, of courage and bravery."

And finally, who claimed at a United Nations-sponsored conference that democratic Israel was "much worse" than the former apartheid South Africa, and that it "undermines the international community's reaction to global warming"? A radical environmentalist wacko?

Again, no. It was Clare Short, a member of the British parliament. She was a secretary for international development under Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Jews have only themselves to blame.

"Jews have only themselves to blame" for the Prime Minister of Turkey and the British Patliament?

That may very well qualify as the single most profoundly retarded sentiment I've ever seen expressed on this site. And that would include those of the Ron Paul Screaming Male Bobbysoxer Brigade.

I don’t know, Kent. There are plenty of liberal Jews who claim to be terrified of Pres. Bush and also claim to be largely unconcerned about jihad. All of these folks will support the ‘Rat nominee no matter what and will not even know about these statements by the Turkish P.M., et al. So if we get a ‘Rat President in ‘08 and this new President stands idle while the Iranians get their nuke on, then if Israel gets lit up I think that generally speaking some of the responsibility for this will fall on the Jews.

I also agree with the statement in general. With the exception of Turkey because they are an Islamic country.

Clare Short and James Abourezk are both hard core libs. Jews vote for libs all over the world it is really odd to me why Jewish people keep voting for people that don’t like them because of their religion.

I think it has more to do with geographics than demographics.
Jews, like any other Caucasians, are not monolithic in their politics.
There are plenty of Jews on the Republican side (just ask any Leftist, Buchananite, or Ron Paul supporter ranting about the “neocons”.)
And don’t forget, Barry Goldwater was a Jew.

You're obviously not aware of MY opus of work on Free Republic :0)

Seriously, the Jews do seem to vote for their tormentors. But yes, they are not a large voting block in Turkey and the UK.

Good to see that some of the FReepers who actually managed to pass World History have finally started to show up in this thread. ;)

The really big mystery of Judaism is the question of why any Jew would ever vote for a democrat.

Thanks. Though I do think the more significant point was about geography. The largest number of Jews in the US can be found in New York, South Florida, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Their politics simply tend to reflect the areas in which they live. There is no significant statistical deviation in political leanings of Jews from the population as a whole in the areas where they live.

Not coincidentally, these are areas that have a history of being more friendly to immigrants and non-WASPs than other parts of the country.

I agree. They are blind to what is happening. They would deny the points Victor Davis Hanson raises and continue to live in their illusion of safety in the US.

And don’t forget that Goldwater’s economic advisor was Milton Friedman-very conservative-actually liberal in the European sense.

We live in a very strange world.

I still don’t understand what it is always “the Jews”. Why not the Lutherans? Why not the smoking section at Denny’s for that matter?

Because it is more important for them to be thought of as “enlightened” and part of the “in crowd” than intellectually honest.
