"Cindy Sheehan -- the Gold Star mother whose son, Army Spec. Casey Sheehan, was killed in Iraq -- has come out of anti-war movement "retirement" to participate in the protest."
Wasn't she going to go home finally?

approximately 1,000 people lying down near the Capitol in a symbolic effort to represent dead U.S. soldiers and dead Iraqis.
Why pretend?

A suggestion: The “die in” would have more impact if it were not mock.

I love it. All those idjits using tactics from decades ago in the internet age.
They were able to get away with it in the past because of the news filters.

"Act Now to Stop War and End Racism"
Stupid question here, but what does "ending racism" have to do with "stopping the war?" Were they simply looking for a couple of extra words that started with an "e" and an "r" just so they would have an acronym that spelled out a word suitable to their cause (i.e. "we demand an ANSWER!").
I guess ANSW ("ANN-SWUH") didn't have quite the same ring.

Wow. 1000 people. The concern is overwhelming. Remember that on Sept 15, 75-100,000 people will show up at college football stadiums all over the country, and pay for the priviledge to attend.
Also remember that as far as the MSM is concerned:
Two protesters on a corner, shouting "Bush Sucks" = dozens.
Handful of protesters, some with signs, standing out front of a Federal office = hundreds.
Busload or two of protesters, some with signs and at least one big stupid papermache puppet = Thousands.

I would be much more impressed if, instead of a fake “die-in”, they actually killed themselves.
Wait, “impressed” isn’t the right word....
Ah, “happier” is the word I’m looking for.
To: Roberts
Organizers of an anti-war protest scheduled for Sept. 15 said Wednesday that the demonstration will be “unlike any other” as activists gather to demand an immediate end to the war.
“We’re going to whine and moan, offend by sight and odor, and just generally trash up the place! Oh, wait, it is going to be just like the other protests.”

Say, before they have their “die-in,” maybe they should have a nice, refreshing cup of cold kool-aide?
To: Roberts
concludes with a "die-in" that organizers estimate will involve approximately 1,000 people lying down near the Capitol in a symbolic effort to represent dead U.S. soldiers and dead Iraqis. That's been done a few thousand times, even on stop-smoking commercials. How is that "different"?
To: Roberts
Unlike any other? Hey Cindy, you want to really make an impact? During VietNam, the Buddist Monks would immolate themselves to protest the war. Now a thousand at once would really be unlike any other.
Just a thought...
