UCI Regents are idiots. Last year they refused to be held accountable
in millions of dollars that seem to disappear in perks and benefits.
From what I saw/heard/read during a "tour of duty" at UCLA...
that seems to be Standard Operating Proceedure at most campi of
the UC system!
I remember that when he visited in 2004, he was amazed at the
amount of construction at UCLA, given the endebteness of the
state of California.
I told him not ot worry...Orange County didn't go under even after
hugh financial shenanigans!

...you think it is impermissible for UCI to take a pass on someone who wants to extend the Bill of Rights to cover the detainees being held at Guantanamo. If he were nominated to the federal judiciary then pass on him. My guess is since he's well respected by many legal scholars(including Glenn Reynolds) that he can and will build a solid law school where all students can flourish. I don't like the idea of saying because you don't agree with me you are not qualified to hold any job above janitor.

I knew I hated lawyers but had no idea they were all so liberal. I'm not.
Then again, whatever "practice" I've had since getting my JD doesn't involve directly representing questionable clients, lobbying for nanny-state laws, or teaching BS at a law school.

Man's dishonesty makes lawyers a necessity. If two sides are represented in an argument, one side must be principled, tho other side would represent dishonesty.
When Chemerinsky speaks, imagine him wearing a frilly apron; he's tolerable that way.

I don't like the idea of saying because you don't agree with me you are not qualified to hold any job above janitor. First of all, I didn't realize that Chemerinsky's career path had boiled down to Dean of the UCI law school or janitor. Second, do you think it is unreasonable for UCI to say no thanks to a legal scholar who thinks the Bill of Rights should be extended to foreign terrorists?
