I wonder how all this foot washing five times a day is accommodated in the Middle East? I doubt they have special foot washing stations in sufficient numbers.
When my father worked in Saudi & Kuwait 45-55 years ago, the (Bedouin) customs were a bit different.
The ablutions involved, primarily, genital cleansing; and, if water was scarce...usually...rubbing with 'clean' sand was the acceptable substitute.
Naturally, if they could, they would also 'appropriate' company water, either by deliberately causing a line to leak; or by turning on a tap, which they had some kind of a problem remembering to turn off again, before walking away.

Yes, Muslims (most) are from desert countries, were, water is very scarce commodity...have to wonder about all this washing of the feet....
