NEW YORK Texas oilman Oscar Wyatt Jr. pleaded guilty Monday to charges that he paid millions of dollars to Iraqi officials to illegally win contracts connected to the United Nations oil-for-food program.
Wyatt told the federal judge in Manhattan that he agreed in December 2001 to advise others to pay a surcharge into an Iraqi account in Jordan in violation of a program rule calling for no direct payments to Iraq.
"I didn't want to waste any more time at 83 years old fooling with this operation," Wyatt said outside court. "The quicker I get it over with the better."
The plea deal calls for Wyatt to be sentenced on Nov. 27 to 18 to 24 months in prison, unless the judge decides otherwise. He also has agreed to forfeit $11 million.
The U.N. oil-for-food program, set up to finance Iraqi imports of necessities, became corrupted in 2000 when Iraqi officials began demanding illegal surcharges in return for contracts to buy Iraqi oil. The program ran from 1996 to 2003.

Well my gosh the RATS and the MSM are correct...it is about oil...for Hillary and her donors apparently.
Good Loed, the old man is going to jail!
Pretty big price to pay for selling a used Model A, isn’t it Oscar?
“Loed”? Er...um...uh...that’s how it’s pronounced with a Vermont accent.
(Yeah, that’s it, Vermont accent, yeah!)
Probably agreed to the deal, to avoid the links to Clintons aired during the trial, and Clintons did not want bad publicity from trial and word “corrupt” and “corruption” and “oil money” heard on airwaves, especially with all the other Hsu’s dropping left and left about illegal campaign funds.
Did Oscar say anything like “Roll over one more time for Clinton” on the steps of courthouse?
ping
Wyatt deserves whatever he gets. I remember this man condemning the 41st President when Gulf War I started. I was floored by what he said....not realizing the extent of his relationship with the mass murderer Saddamn...
BTTT
Here we go again. Gosh! Is there ANY criminal corruption out there Hillary isn’t connected to?
Sigh...no no no, you still haven't gotten it! LOL! Hi!!ary isn't connected to criminal corruption (which is, we all know, exclusive to eeeevil Republicans) until the MSM says she is. And it'll be a very cold day in HE!! before you see the deep long-term connections between Wyatt and the Dim machine reported in NYTWASHPOSTSFCHRONLATCBSABCNBCPBS, etc. ad nauseum. So you see, it hasn't really happened at all. Let's even leave Wyatt out of it - when did you hear a top of the hour story on Peter Paul's case against the Clintonoids? Oh, that's right, you haven't - ever - because that case had been shoved down the memory hole before it even really started. For reference, see Orwell > grave > spinning.
The death of the MSM can NOT come soon enough!
bump
FReepers knew he was a bad seed back in 2005. Why did it take so long for Richardson to give back Wyatt's contributions? I know, I know, VSD - Very Sloppy Disease (aka Berger-itis)
Although I got up early to see his perp walk on our local news and I was cheering for this trial to happen, I have a soft spot in my heart for Oscar and don’t want to see him go to prison - and I suspect he probably won’t.
Minimum time served is okay with me..
OW, in my book (as an employee through the EP merger), gets what he deserves. Everything he ever owned (from the Ford to the pipeline and refineries) was just a toy that he was destined to sell at as much profit he could get.
He played with people’s livelihoods for his own greedy ends.
Guess I have to eat my words (in above post). Oskie got 1 year and 1 day, plus the $11 million fine.
He had agreed to serve between 18 months and 24 months, so I guess this sentence was mitigated by some of his good deeds. Sheesh, he had Michael DeBakey, Farrah Fawcett and others vouching for him.

“He also has agreed to forfeit $11 million.”
Oscar replies: Uhhh, who should Oscar Jr. write the check out to?
Or, “let Lynn do it - she’s got the checkbook.” LOL
