Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) said Tuesday that he introduced a House resolution to support Rush Limbaugh because the conservative talk radio host "needs defending" from Democrats who have introduced resolutions and made statements condemning him for using the words "phony soldiers" on his radio show.
On his Sept. 26 show, Limbaugh used the term "phony soldiers" in setting up a story about Jesse Macbeth, a former soldier who was recently sentenced to five months in prison for obtaining veterans' benefits by falsifying his military records.
Macbeth claimed to have been an Army Ranger with a rank of corporal. He further claimed to have served in Iraq and Afghanistan and became a figure of the anti-war movement when he stated in Internet videos that he witnessed U.S. military atrocities in Iraq. In reality, Macbeth was in the Army only 44 days and never served overseas.
The liberal media group Media Matters for America (which has led a long campaign to have Limbaugh removed from taxpayer-supported Armed Services Radio) accused Limbaugh of referring to all anti-war soldiers as "phony soldiers."
Limbaugh clarified on his radio show that he was referring specifically to Macbeth and others like him.
But Democrats in the House and Senate have criticized Limbaugh and launched efforts to demand apologies and make official condemnations of his comment. On Monday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) announced he was sending a letter to Clear Channel Communications asking that the broadcasting giant force Limbaugh to apologize.
Also on Monday, Rep. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) introduced a House resolution to support the military and condemn Limbaugh's comments. Udall's resolution prompted Kingston to introduce his own resolution supporting Limbaugh. Cybercast News Service sat down with Kingston Tuesday to discuss the issue.
It is appalling that US Senators are attempting to libel a private citizen from the floor of the Senate. What a disgraceful abuse of power.
Rush must be getting to those communists in the House and Senate.
What you’re seeing here is a complete expose of the MSM’s intent to misrepresent facts to further an agenda...exactly proving what Rush has been saying all along.
Sadly though the Democratic brainwashed morons won’t really care...they’re too far under the influence of the Libereal Kool-Aid to care about the facts.
And why hasn't horrible Harry sent off a letter demanding Murtha apologize to the Marines he slandered? In fact he ought to be insisting Murtha do it & do it asap.
Just 2 days before ABC News used the term. Rush just said what a lot of people already think about who the media interviews for their enemy propaganda and it’s about time they got called on it.
Kudos to Kingston but the neutered senate remains searching for their testicles. And these clowns wonder why their fundraising sucks.
BRAVO!
Too bad Harry was able to deflect attention away from him earlier this year with the immigration fiasco after he went to the Senate floor and claimed that “This war is lost.”
I say we get the momentum going again.
Wow. I thought that Article 1, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution bans Bills of Attainder, which in Constitutional context means a bill that has an negative effect on a single person or group. Now, the ‘Rats wouldn’t do that would they?
If I were Limbaugh, I’d say, “Let me address the Senate, and I’ll apologize.” Then I’d take the floor and apologize for the sorry bunch of power-made, clueless, washed-up knothead gasbag traitors that the Senate has turned itself into.
Of course he is. In the mind of the liberal establishment in Government, Rush IS the Conservative movement. Any chance the liberal establishment in Government has to go after Talk Radio, they will.
We are very proud of our Jack Kingston. He has a very bright future.
Hypocrisy, they name is Democrat. Rush is being criticized by the liberal Senators for something he didn’t actually say, but Murtha has been allowed to say whatever terrible thing he wants about our military.
Amen! Is there any question that they would squelch freedom of speech if they ever had the opportunity.
But where are the rest of the Republicans? Where are their voices? Why haven’t they spoken up - not just to defend Rush, but to condemn a Bill of Attainder, and the lies being used to censor a private citizen?
NO dis on Rush...quite the contrary! I just immediately thought of this, when reading the article.
