This story combines two of my favorite things: James Randi, one of America's treasures; and making fun of lunatic stereophiles, I guess you don't want to hear about the 12AX7 vacuum tube preamp I have in my computer mouse then.
I too have enjoyed Randi's work and efforts.

Personally, I find nothing captures the authenticity of perfomance, the essential "you are there" je ne sais quoi-ness of musical experience, quite as well as the Edison Wax Cylinder.

LOL, nice! Yeah, I’m still struggling along with dual 6SN7s in my old mouse.

I guess you don't want to hear about the 12AX7 vacuum tube preamp I have in my computer mouse then. Sadly, I'm old enough to remember the 12AX7, and many other common vacuum tubes. Can't recite them, but I recognize a few common numbers when they show up.
As for the cables, any reasonably heavy-gauge (say, #16 copper) wire should suffice for speakers unless the run is exceptionally long.

Why do you need a preamp for your mouse?

You’re joking about the 12ax7 pre amp tube in your mouse, right?
