Iran Hangs Nine in Teheran Execution

Khaleej Times Online

TEHERAN -- Iran hanged nine people convicted of murder, including a woman, at Evin prison in Teheran in the latest of a growing number of executions in the Islamic republic, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

The woman, identified only as Fakhteh C., and the eight others were hanged on Wednesday after being found guilty of various murders, the Teheran Emrouz newspaper reported. It said that some raped their victims before killing them.

Separately, two Kurdish militants who belonged to an outlawed party seeking Kurdish autonomy in Iran were hanged in the western city of Sanandaj for having killed a member of the Revolutionary Guards, the ISNA news agency reported.

The new hangings bring to at least 221 the number of executions carried out in the country so far this year, many in public.

Executions done on prison grounds, behind prison walls are always suspect. This is how the regime gets rid of dissidents and those falsely accused of crimes whom the regime considers trouble-makers and enemies of the state. "Murderers", "rapists" and "drug dealers" are the common labels the regime uses in these anonymous executions.

Isn’t that how all of US executions are done?

Did they hang them with a noose? If so, THAT’S RACIST!

Are you trying to equate non-publicized executions of people who have not had a fair trial or hearing in Iran, with executions here?

No; I asked a simple question in reply to your statement. Are you trying to say prisoners convicted in US courts to be executed are done so, off of prison grounds? outside the walls of the prison?

"....people who have not had a fair trial..."

Are people who "submit" to Sharia Law entitled to a "fair trial"?

I doubt it....

In any event -- the old adage comes into play -- live by the "Koran", die by the "Koran"....

Executions in Iran are publically done on city streets - unlike here. It’s the ones done behind prison walls that are suspicious. Are you getting the differentiation now?

“Are people who “submit” to Sharia Law entitled to a “fair trial”?”

In Iran, according to their laws, yes. Does it happen very often? No.

Sorry when I read you first response I was stund by your thinking to include this in the same breath of Iran!

I thought this was going to be some kind of takeoff from a surfer dude who “hangs ten”.

I guess I too misread; I did not consider the poster was referring just to Iran prisons. They kinda jumped on me for that, I guess I should not read the sentence at face value.

This is outrageous. The noose is a registered trademark symbol of the NAACP and should not be used without express permission.
