SAN FRANCISCO - The man accused of setting the Burning Man on fire four days early has been arrested for allegedly planning to set Grace Cathedral ablaze, San Francisco police said today.
Paul David Addis, 35, was arrested on the cathedral steps at 11:40 p.m. Sunday by police who said they had been tipped that someone intended to set fire to the Episcopal church, police spokesman Sgt. Steve Mannina said.
Addis was wearing an old ammunition belt that carried small explosives, Mannina said. He was booked on suspicion of attempted arson, possession of an incendiary substance, possession of explosives and possession of explosives with intent to terrorize a church.
A bomb dog was brought in to search the area and found no other explosives at the California Street cathedral.
Addis was arrested early Aug. 28 in Nevada and charged with felony arson for allegedly lighting the icon of the annual Burning Man festival on fire four days before its scheduled immolation.

I would think he’d get a bigger punishment in LaLaLand for putting the torch to Burning Man than for destroying Grace Cathedral. True, the Episcopal Church in San Francisco celebrates sodomy and other PC causes, but Grace Cathedral is still a church and occasionally used for “worship.”

In an odd kind of way, setting burning man alight prior to the schedule is a VERY burning man thing to do.
The cathedral however just indicates he’s a firebug. Toss the key.

Based on the pic of one David Addis I’m gonna take a WAG that he’s not exactly heterosexual, or sane.

Even in San Francisco he’ll get 7-14 years for this.

My mother lives across from Grace Cathedral and when I visit her we hang out the window and watch them trudging around the labyrinth. I’ve never been very sure what their labyrinth had to do with either sodomy or Episcopalianism, but it seems to be something that the Piskies - cowbirds that they are - have dragged into their nest.

(I think setting the Burning Man on fire was funny, though. I mean, it’s *supposed* to be burned!)
