Wyoming Congresswoman Barbara Cubin will face more competition to keep her job next year.
Retired naval officer Bill Winney of Sublette County says he plans to seek the Republican Party nomination for Cubin's seat. Cubin last year received 60 percent of the primary vote to beat Winney in the Republican Party primary.

Having learned some lessons in his first try for the U.S. House in 2006, Republican Bill Winney is starting early this time.
Winney will be facing a crowded field this time. The problem with a split field against Cubin means it may allow her to prevail with a plurality, unfortunately (no runoffs). Cubin’s voting record is good, but she herself just seems to rub people the wrong way.
I am not from wyoming, but I read something some tme ago that she might be planning not to run for reelection. Has anyone else heard that?
We HOPE she retires, but I don’t recall reading that she is definitively leaning that way. If she is, she needs to announce soon.

Fritz Cubin has been in and out of the hospital for the last seven months after he was diagnosed with thrombocytopenia, a condition in which there are not enough blood platelets circulating in the body. He has also been battling a staph infection for more than a month, and he underwent surgery on his spleen in October.
The congresswoman has been recovering from a broken foot. When she has been in Washington, she has used crutches and a motorized scooter to move around in the Capitol.
Usually, that would indicate a candidate is thinking about hanging it up, although there are the rare few instances when poor fundraising doesn’t deter an incumbent (such as with Doolittle in CA), but ultimately that puts the party at risk for losing the seat (especially if the incumbent only ekes out a narrow victory in the primary).
