It’s the San Francisco area, no one cares.
That's good to hear!
What’s really too bad about that is that the “delay” in the announcement to the media about the size of the spill was a totally unacceptable five hours.
Five hours?
This is reason for outrage?
The gear was there and the cleanup was underway. Maybe they were busy getting real response going instead of chatting with reporters, who so far as I know, aren’t cleaning up anything.
Five hours is too long to let the *reporters* wait? How do they say that with a straight face?
>>Five hours is too long to let the *reporters* wait? How do they say that with a straight face?<<
Are they claiming there are any consequences for the delay?
I’m guessing that the Coast Guard talked to California officials much faster.
sorry missed that.
It happens often? No, this happens once in a blue moon. As far as Florida is concerned, I am sure they get tar on their beaches like Texas does, from natural seepage from the oil sands beneath the sea bed.
The Japanese torpedoed the tanker SS Emedio off the Mendocino county coast and it went aground off Crescent City Calif. I have a couple of picture postcards of it in my extensive collection...

That seepage occurs in the Santa Barbara, CA as well.
Honestly I do feel badly for them in the
Bay area with regards to this or any spill.
But I can’t help but chuckle at many of the
wussie boys and tree huggers going goofy foot on this one.
The oil spill affects the crab fishermen, and probably other fishermen, too. It also affects the restaurants, tourists, excursion boats, private boats, ferry boats -- not to mention the wildlife, fish, fowl, beaches. Also, Angel Island, Alcatraz... So much of our industry and economy is based on the Bay.
Commercial crab boats won't go out in oil-tainted waters. See link for dozens of new articles.

One of my watch sailors had been USN armed guard (they manned the guns)on merchant ships during WWII. He told me they had someting similar to a hiring hall where the navy sailors reported to get their merchant ship assignments. He remembers seeing guys that got their assignments in the morning or day before and showed up in the evening, soaking, wet because they had been torpedoed. They had no where else to go.
Best way to avoid these tanker oil spills...
Pump more of our own oil and deliver it by pipeline, no?
You know, drill a well save a beach.
Think it’ll sell?
Nobody asked you to read or comment on my thread if you’re so totally uninterested or unconcerned with our oil spill.
