But so far as may be determined, no extinctions resulted from this oil spill.....

Is anyone sure whether this oil slick came from a tanker, or an eruption from the ocean floor that was released from an untapped oil reservoir, because the pressure was not relieved by drilling and pumping the crude out?

A container ship ran into a support tower of the Bay Bridge, rupturing its fuel tank. As first they thought it was just 140 gallons of oil; then they realized it was 58,000 gallons.

On the news last night, I saw a picture of a sea lion swimming in the Bay, with its head emerging out of the black goo. 16 beaches have been closed.
