11/09/2007 Kerry Spokesman Sets Limbaugh Straight on Swiftboat Smears

WASHINGTON D.C. – Kerry spokesman David Wade issued the following statement today in response to Rush Limbaugh, who said on his radio show that Kerry’s Swift Boat attackers in 2004, “were right on the money and nobody has disproven anything they claimed in any of their ads, statements, written commentaries, or anything of the sort.”

“At first I thought, that’s not Rush, that’s just the OxyContin talking. Nonetheless, this is a despicable but unsurprising new lie from a man whose closest brush with combat came when customs officials tried to take away his Viagra. This portly peddler of hate is once again wrong on the facts. John Kerry served his country with honor in Vietnam, and has fought for his fellow veterans ever since. The lies and smears of the Swift Boat Veterans for Bush were disproved conclusively in 2004 by the men who fought by John Kerry’s side in Vietnam, by the military’s own records, by investigative journalists, and by the incredible contradictions that exposed these right wing smear artists. It is long past time that we end the politics of fear and smear that we have seen used against decorated veterans from John McCain to Max Cleland and John Kerry. Rush Limbaugh’s ignorance and determination to divide Americans is just another reminder that you can’t spell ‘Rush Limbaugh’ without the letters L-I-A-R.”

The watchdog group Media Matters has provided an excellent fact check of the Limbaugh smear, proving once again that when it comes to slandering veterans, the right wing is wrong. The fact check can be found at: (http://mediamatters.org/items/200711090008?f=h_latest)

John Kerry served his country with honor in Vietnam...

This is the only thing this pud says that is correct. Kerry did serve his country with honor. He is considered a hero by the North Vietnamese, and even has a plaque in the War Museum in Hanoi commemorating his antiwar activities. Gen. Giap stated in his memoirs that people like Kerry and that slut Jane Fonda were indispensible in giving them victory. That is an inconvenient truth that none of Kerry's sycophantics can deny.

John Kerry served his country with honor in Vietnam, and has fought for his fellow veterans ever since. I don't think so, especially "fought for his fellow veterans ever since". The truth is JK fought "against" his fellow vets and continues to do so. Notice all the hate and lies. The Left can't do anything but spread hate and lies.

The person holding the data is that Globe reporter, not Kerry

But that reporter, and another from IIRC the LA Times, are not the only ones holding that data. It's in the National Military Archives in St. Louis. All it takes is another SF-180, this time releasing the information to all who wish to see it, or maybe just all members of the press. But of course no one in the MSM is going to ask Mr. Ketchup why he hasn't done that, rather than release it to "friendly" reporters.

My husband, a Vietnam vet says contributing to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth was the BEST political contribution he has made in this lifetime!

Gotta agree with that, I feel the same way. Can you imagine how it would have been these last 6 years if John, "cut and run", F'n Kerry had been the CinC? Gives me the willies.

The question should be, when will you publicly release the information from when you signed the 180 in 2005?

Still not quite the right question. The right question is more like:

"When will you sign a form 180 releasing the documents to the general public or all members of the press?"

You couldn't rely on anything he released anyway.

Don't forget that Kerry allegedly joined the Swift Boat squadron because they weren't in Vietnam, at least at the time.

Actually they were, but they were doing the relatively safe mission of intercepting coastal shipping, not providing fire support and transport on the rivers. The riverine war was much more hazardous.

What would Kerry’s Form 180 specifically show? That he got a medal from a minor injury, or something to that effect?

The SF-180 is merely the permission to release one's records. The individual may choose to release only selected records, or release records only to one or a few individuals, release all the records, release the records to the general public, or some combination. Kerry chose to release his records to a few friendly reporters from the Boston Globe and LA Times. No reports other than "Nothing new to see" were ever issued based on reviewing the records.

As to what the records might show, who knows. I speculate that whatever they would reveal must not be particularly flattering, or J F'n K would have released them to the public. They generally tend to make rather boring reading. Mine certainly would.

Some have speculated there might be a less than honorable discharge from the Navy reserve hiding in there somewhere. Or maybe just "charges" which were dismissed, "for the good of the Navy". All based on his collaboration with the Enemy, the North Vietnamese and their southern stooges, in Paris. But of course until the records are released, it's all speculation. Speculation I tend to doubt, because some clerk or administrative officer somewhere would have blabbed by now. Still there must be something, one doesn't hide the normal adminitrivia that such records generally contain.
