Prophet for Political Profit Reverend of the Left.
National Review Online ^ | 11-13-07 | Peter Wehner

Posted on 11/13/2007 11:31:06 PM PST by DeweyCA

I believe that Dick Cheney is a liar; that Donald Rumsfeld is also a liar; and that George W. Bush was, and is, clueless about how to be the president of the United States. ...They have shamed our beloved nation in the world by this war and the shameful way they have fought it. Almost 4,000 young Americans are dead because of the lies of this administration, tens of thousands more wounded and maimed for life, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis also dead, and 400 billion dollars wasted—because of their lies, incompetence, and corruption.

But I don’t favor impeachment, as some have suggested. I would wait until after the election, when they are out of office, and then I would favor investigations of the top officials of the Bush administration on official deception, war crimes, and corruption charges. And if they are found guilty of these high crimes, I believe they should spend the rest of their lives in prison - after offering their repentance to every American family who has lost a son, daughter, father, mother, brother, or sister. Deliberately lying about going to war should not be forgiven.

There are a raft of reckless comments to sort through in these two paragraphs.

- Snip -

For what it’s worth, I don’t believe Jim Wallis is lying in writing what he did. I simply believe he is deeply uninformed and politically tendentious, animated, and blinded by his political biases. And while he claims to be public theologian and a prophet, he’s a good deal closer to being a James Carville or a Paul Begala — though at least the latter don’t pretend to be “prophets” who are hovering above politics in a disinterested and morally serious fashion.

The clergy of the "loving and compassionate" Left are sometimes no better than the vile, hate-filled secular Leftists. Make no mistake, we will hear much more from the MSM about Jim Wallis and his ilk in the this electoral season as the Left tries to confuse uninformed Christians about the issues.

Who cares about a nut job like Wallis. What I want to know is who is the more clever nut job Wehner??? It is well established that:

1. Iraq did have chemical weapons. The US has found sarin and mustard gas weapons.

2. Iraq did have rockets with range beyond what they were allowed. Those were found too.

3. Iraq was trying to rebuild its nuclear program. The burried nuclear documents certainly show that.

So all we are missing from the list of claims this Wehner character claims were false is biological weapons. It is amazing how stupid people become in the DC bubble. Plain facts like actual saran and mustard gas shells, plain facts like missles he describes are just ignored in the face of the DC consensus.

For what it’s worth, I don’t believe Jim Wallis is lying in writing what he did.

He's lying, all right -- to himself.

He loves his hatred of GWB and Dick Cheney more than he loves anything -- his country, the truth, God -- anything.

That's the only possible explanation for why anyone would twist themselves into pretzels trying to believe the kind of nonsense written above.

According to Mr. Duelfer, “the guiding theme for WMDs was to sustain the intellectual capacity achieved over so many years at such a great cost and to be in a position to produce again with as short a lead time as possible.

Thanks to President Bush, VP Cheney, Rummy, and of course, the courageous men and women in the coalition forces, WE STOPPED THAT. Thank God.

The last line of Wallis’ screed:

“Deliberately lying about going to war should not be forgiven.”

Imagine what kind of a heart it takes to makes such a statement, and then try to imagine Jesus saying something like this. All I can do is shake my head.

Poor reality testing is a good marker for a leftist ideologue, not a preacher of the gospel.

I have to say, I really like some fo the things that the Emergent church movement is saying. They are askign questions that need to be asked, and forcing the crusty dusty, frozen chosen types to examine some neglected things.

But for crying out loud, I can’t fathom this affection for dictatorships. Freedom is from God. That’s extremely basic.

What is the Emergent church movement saying that you approve of? Not questioning you, just curious.

Things like:

the lack of true, interdependent community in the body of Christ.

Our tendency to drop an offering in the plate and think that it absolves us of responsibility toward others.

The sycophantic devotion to man-made religious structures at the expense of real, discipling relatioships between people.

The tendency of some churches to focus on stupid uses of money, (like a new $88 mil church building here locally) instead of really doing something to help people, stuff like that.

Since Jim Wallis likes to engage in hyperbole - why not “indict” him for supporting the murder of a million people by Saddam Hussein. Since he opposes the regime change, ergo, he supports Saddam. Since he supports Saddam, he supported the deaths of all those that Saddam killed. Since he supported those deaths, he must be morally culpable. Since he is morally culpable, he must be held accountable.

I would suggest that Jim Wallis deserves 10 to 100 times any punishment that he would propose for Pres. Bush or others in office.

We should push back - anyone who suggests that “Bush lied, people died” - is an active supporter of the murderous Saddam, and more died at Saddam’s hand.

Someone should post a picture of the Heaven’s Gate cult leader in southern California - he and about 40 individuals committed suicide to have a “psychic rendezvous” with a comet.

The leader looks like a slightly older/slightly disheveled brother to this turkey. (small photo here:

But wait! Let’s find out what Robert Schuller thinks.

Speaking of smarmy people, ain’t it funny that a journalist from the Wall Street Journal (saw him on the idiot box, don’t recall his name) blames MR. ROGERS!!!!! for making so many kids (who are now, chronologically, adults) self centered folk with an insipid sense of entitlement? “Each and every child is sooooo special (queue Gollum).”

Sowin’ and reapin’ - they’re connected, ya know.

yup!

The “cue” you’re looking for is “cue” in that context, not queue. (smile)

Hey speaking of Gollum did you hear “gollum” call into the “remedial theology” hour on the Narrow Mind?
