Rudy Giuliani laughs off Judith Regan rap

Judith Regan claimed Rudy Giuliani's cronies tried to silence her; now the presidential hopeful wants to sideline her to the gossip columns.

The Republican candidate said Wednesday the publishing queen's bombshell $100 million suit was no more than salacious tittle-tattle.

"It sounds to me like a kind of gossip column story more than a real story," he said on a campaign stop in Iowa.

"The last thing in the world you want to do when you're running for President is respond to gossip column-type stories."

Regan's suit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court this week, claimed her old bosses at HarperCollins and its parent company, News Corp., tried to discredit her to protect Giuliani.

The editor, canned amid controversy as she tried to push O.J. Simpson's supposed tell-all book "If I Did It," had New York's former Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik as a client and a lover.

Kerik, who was mentored by Giuliani, was indicted last week on federal corruption charges.

Regan said her bosses at Rupert Murdoch's media empire were terrified she knew things that could hurt Giuliani's chances of moving into the White House.

They told her to hide documents and lie to federal investigators building a case against her ex-boyfriend, she said.

And they moved to paint her as an "unethical businesswoman devoid of any integrity" by letting her take the fall for the outrage Simpson's book created, she said in her 70-page suit.

"Defendants knew they would be protecting Giuliani if they could preemptively discredit her," the suit said.

Giuliani, a former business partner and friend of Kerik's who installed him as police commissioner while New York's mayor, laughed when asked about the suit at the end of Wednesday's campaign stop.

"I don't respond to the story at all," he said. "I don't know anything about it."

Sorry, but Judith Regan deserves the criticism of her judgement in working with OJ.

She knew it would be a blockbuster book where she could make millions, yet she threw the ethical issues aside without a thought.

Now she wants to blame someone else for her troubles. Sounds like a typical spoiled, NY socialite.

Judith Regan’s credibility on this topic is questionable at best. And the 100 Million dollar lawsuit doesn’t help.

I saw a few minutes of Dan Abrams. I could not take any more of his whimpering. He sounded stupid and embarrassingly biased. He is desperately trying to tie Regan’s lawsuit to Fox News. He seems to claim that Fox supports Rudy because he is a conservative. Believe me, Abrams, Rudy is not a conservative. He is pretty close to whatever Hillary stands for. Abrams whined about Fox having a conservative bias when it is MSNBC and NBC that have a far bigger bias. Get a life, Abrams.

‘I think of her in the same category as Jerry Springer or Dennis Kucinich.’

Yep. The fact she’s known for routinely walking through an office shouting ‘I’ve got the biggest cock in the building’ tells you all you need to know about this skank.

Huh?! LOL... somehow I missed that little factoid. But I can’t call it surprising... ;)

Read about it in either National Review or The Weekly Standard recently.

9/11 changed everything. Rudy lost a love nest, but Bernie Kerik gained one.

No problemo. I’ve done the same, pretty much on a routine basis, over the course of the past decade in these forums.

It is very evident that these blogs are filled with those who are in bed with certain candidates.

What is unfortunate and scary alike is that Rudy is obviously being “set-up” as the front man by the GOP. He is the Golden Boy and we will get him rammed down our throat. Once it boils down to Hillary vs. Rudy, the party message will be to vote for him or else Hillary wins. You’re already seeing this message.

It is unfortunate, but what we are witnessing is a party that is unveiling it’s true colors. The GOP is basically telling us that the end is their grasp on power, not any real values or principals in economics, national security, or society/family values. Rudy is seen as “electable” and winning is what it’s about. It’s about installing their man and since society as a whole has shifted somewhat left in the last few years, the party is chasing and running left. What he represents is secondary and the end is not the ideas the GOP said they represent, but the party itself, and winning an election. So Rudy obviously gets lots of free airtime on FOX, coincidence?
