Wow!
Here it is in paperback from $48.00. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/082171113X/ref=lp_g_2
It needs to be recorded unabridged for audio, too.
And McCain wanted regular trading status with Vietnam after being a POW.

Yes, that truly baffles me, as well. Funny, earlier today, I was thinking about McCain as I was doing my hair (I’m a woman). On more than one occasion, raising my arms to do this has reminded me of the fact that, to this day, that poor man cannot even comb his own hair because of the torture he suffered at the hands of those scumbags in the Hanoi Hilton. Evil, evil subhumans.
I would never vote for McCain because of his stand on illegals, but I will never cease to admire his bravery and nobility.
A German man who worked with my dad knew Dieter when they were in Germany and knew him here in San Diego.
Yes, Dieter was the real deal.
What did they do to his arms? I never see him raising them.
The capabilities of a determined soldier are truly astonishing. I thank God that men such as Eugene Deatrick enlist in our military forces because they are a guiding light for all others to emulate when tough times appoach.
Ping.
You won’t be disappointed. They crammed as much of his real-life items as they could for the movie time they had. As much brutality as there is in his story it was actually a very upbeat movie in that his character was full of can-do attitude. It would even make for a good SERE training flick about attitude.
It was a very tasteful movie that makes for a great tribute to such a man and his story. There could have been far more ugly in the movie but the director kept it only as hints and not a screen full of gore. You’ll appreciate the respect.
P.S. Watch the extras on the DVD with the director telling the tale. I had no idea what went into this movie until I did.
Comments, Comrade Kerry?
BTTT!
Thanks for the info - I appreciate that very much!

“Rescue Dawn” just came out on DVD this week. It’s a movie worth owning. Christian Bale gives an absolutely phenomenal performance as Dengler. Between that and “3:10 to Yuma,” he’s given two amazing Oscar-winning performances this year.
Dengler was born in Germany and lived through the post-war period there, which is part of the reason that he survives. He moved to America because he loved its freedom and optimism, and he knew that he could learn to fly professionally. His fierce love for his adopted land is one of the reasons that his spirit was so consistently strong.
This movie was truly inspiring. It was in the local theaters for several weeks when it was released, at least here in NJ. I’m going to give the DVD as a Christmas present to some of my relatives who never got a chance to see it. It’s well worth the shelf space.
Another good movie is Music Within.
WOW, just wow.
I think that I’ll go see the movie for sure.
What did they do to his arms? I never see him raising them.

I think that they hung him by his arms. I really don’t know for sure what the savages did to him. I am sure it would be easy to do a search and find out, but, to tell you the truth, I don’t want to look into it. What I do know is that he is now incapable of raising his arms because of what they did. I am willing to bet that he has suffered a tremendous loss of range of motion, which, no doubt, limits the gestures he can make while speaking.
As I said before, I have tremendous respect for him and the sacrifices he has made, but I would not vote for him mainly because of his stand on illegals.
Bloodied and broken, he was asked by Pathet Lao officials to sign a document condemning America, but still he refused, so the torture intensified.
Which makes me angrier and angrier at John Fn Kerry!
BTTT-just saw the flick. Amazing man-wish he had been able to put it behind him and enjoy some of life.
May he rest in peace, what an incredible story of bravery and heroism.
