>They sent out email notices saturday regarding online banking with them - that you could only move up to $10,000 a month total ($2000 a day, 5 times a month only) out of citibank accounts to your linked other banks. Previously it had been $10,000 a day that could be moved online out of a citibank acct to another linked outside bank acct.<
I would clean out my accounts if they ever sent such a message to me. If I can move 50K into my account, I sure as hell will come in in person and move it out.
Citi bought out my old bank a few years ago. Within 10 days I shifted everything to one of the small local banks that doesn’t charge a fee for every little thing.
I agree. Close the accounts now.
“Karma is a good thing.”
That 45,000 people (mostly lower paid) will lose their jobs??
I think the limit has to do with free transfers to accounts in other banks. Usually, in a "demand" account, the depositor may demand all of their money at any time. With other types of accounts, CDs, some money markets, the depositor may have to wait to get their money. In either case the terms should be spelled out in the micro print contract signed when the account was opened. Citi has a notice about the transfer program here.
I believe at last count Citi had well over 300,000 employees(globally).
These large banks are very large indeed.
CNBC market notice:
CitiGroup shares are below $30 for the 1st time in 5 years.
Can you mention what location. I’m familiar with a lot of the locations/people in the NYC area.
Wall street always gets the worst of its own devices. Mumbai is said to exceed NYC in cost of living. It can't be quite so cost effective to ship the jobs over there now.
I actually supported software written in the USA for an Indian client recently. It was a one-off, but still...how ironic is that?!
Delaware.
You did’nt have take on a fake name to help with that software support did you? Such answer the phone and say your name was “Patel”?
Too funny. I was so enamored with the irony at the time that I misplaced my sense of humor. Plus the fact that it was my little creation sort of went to my head, I admit. But it's a bittersweet thing, because I really didn't know they'd be using my work in India to help do the work currently done here. But it does highlight how dependent the whole thing is on good old fashioned yankee ingenuity.
