Democrats can muster only 55% of the vote. Maybe 60% in a good year. But the state is not so far gone that the GOP is completely powerless. It can win a third of the seats in the State Legislature that it gives it clout at budget time. Mostly though, its irrelevant in the sense that liberals run the show in California.

True but it is shameless that Bush and the Arnold do not raise money for the state GOP to at least keep state senate and assembly seats competitive. The Congressional caucus will almost disappear unless redistricting comes. The Senate races will probably never see anyone defeat Boxer or DiFi unless the Arnold competes against Babs. Di Fi will simply retire and then we can see any Hispanic candidate like Villagorasa winning that seat. It really is gloom and doom here in the Soviet Republic of Ca.
