January 22, 2007, 4:32 PM Katie On Hillary Posted by Katie Couric| Comments11 (CBS) Hillary Clinton says a friend of hers describes her as “the most famous woman that people don’t know.” Well, America will get to know her, one way or another, in the next few months, as one of the most anticipated Presidential campaigns in recent history rolls out across the country. As part of that roll-out, Senator Clinton came to our New York studio this afternoon for an interview, two days after launching her campaign on her Web site. She looked polished and poised – and prepared. She explained why she doesn’t support President Bush’s “surge” in troops for Iraq. And she talked a bit about her vision for the country, and repeated the phrase she used in her website’s announcement Saturday, that she believed America needs a leader who will take steps that are “bold and practical.” (You can catch more of the interview on tonight’s Evening News.) Of course, it remains to be seen what specific “bold and practical” plans and policies she’ll be outlining – and whether any of that will resonate with the rest of the country. One thing is certain: with the remarkable lineup of talent from both parties jockeying for position, political junkies will have a field day watching the election season unfold. This promises to be an extraordinary -- and long -- campaign. There are 652 days until Election Day. Fasten your seatbelts!

Interesting. I wonder how she'll position herself on the surge these days, now that even the press can't negatively spin the good news it's brought lately.

If you guys remember the reason CBS News got tied into hiring Couric...it was Viacom...who continued to harp on getting her at all cost...and demanding that CBS meet their demands. The New Bureau for the most part....knew that she was the WRONG person.

So why did Viacom pick Couric? She was the reserve pitcher for Hillary’s campaign when they needed numbers. We are at a point with Iowa where Hillary desperately needs to convert votes over to her side or lose the state. Couric...in this episode...has to ask Iowa-related questions to make Hillary appear the “common” candidate. Watch the phrases and the “solutions”...all will be fitted into a Iowa frame of mind.

Who will write Couric’s questions? Oh...just take a guess.

Will Couric be successful? Seriously...no. Based on comments and numbers...CBS news isn’t played that highly in Iowa and I’m doubting that Couric makes a single bit of difference.

Viacom’s future play? They have to get Hillary into the CBS image center alot between now and January. Couric’s big moments in July/August of next year are yet to come. Given a choice today...CBS News would beg to terminate Couric...who can’t get any gains over the competition. They can’t fire her...they can’t move her. They can’t even hire competetent help to back her up...because of her salary.

SOP at CBS is for Hildebeast to be sitting in Lettermans’ lap for the interview.

I’m confident Couric will do a follow up on Hillary’s “bold and practical” plans. /sarc.

"Hillary’s a coward. If she had any brass ones she’d take on Britt Hume."

Hillary is at least smart enough to meet with the one person who is certifiably stupider than she herself is.

The deal was that Katie would have to have the questions sent to her by Clinton at least 2 hours prior to the show.

This is a fraudulent story in soooo many ways.

First, Hillary certainly asked for the interview cause she's tanking, so Couric likely didn't score anything...she probably jumped at the REQUEST (or was afraid to decline the DEMAND )from Hillary to help save her.

Secondly, did Hillary not say she would boycott the CBS debate because newswriters were to join the hollywood strikers?

Sooooo, in this case, where only Hillary gets the free pub, it's OK to cross the picket line.

I understand...you still stink, Hillary, you FPOS!
