Might South Vietnam be free today if the motley collection of liberal Democrats and moderate Republicans who people Blacklisted By History not undercut Sen. Joseph McCarthy?

Gotta love those "moderate" Republicans. They're so sensible, so pliable, so culpable.

Wow, good post. If anyone hasn’t read Ann Coulter’s great book which covers Joe McCarthy and his patriotic fight for the U.S. (I think the book is “Treason”, or is it another one. I get hers mixed up by title.), it covers the era very well and very fairly.

I wish someone would put up the money to put up a Joe McCarthy statue at the Wisconsin State Capitol building in Madison. It would honor a great American and drive the lefties of Madison screeching into the night.

From a disussion of McCarthy at the conservative Frontpage Magazine:

“McCarthy was not the Great Satan of left historical myth but he was a minor devil. His use of anticommunism as a partisan weapon against not just the guilty Popular Front liberals but anti-Communist liberals and Cold War Democrats as well was highly divisive and ultimately destructive of anti-Communist goals. For little short-term partisan gain McCarthy’s tactics allowed Communists and their allies to hide their guilt behind the innocence of others.”
