Magic pizza? Magic brownies for dessert?

A popular local pizza chain in Atlanta -- they've expanded to a few other cities, but they started here -- is called Mellow Mushroom. Rumor has it back in the late '60s and early '70s, they topped their pies with "special" mushrooms for special customers.

Whether that's true or not, they make kick-ass calzones. The stuff on them that looks like oregano is, in fact, oregano.

I personally witnessed this in the early 80's...the spring street MM (right across the fwy from Ga Tech) would also sell any qty up to a pound with your sit-down or take-out order

I also witnessed then-councilman Bill Campbell (now former atlanta mayor and convicted felon) purchase small and large qty of marijauna on several occasions at that store. He also ordered pizza with "special" toppings...heheh.

I'm pretty sure it was just the store manager, tho. He had a special cooler strictly for the pot and hired off-duty Fulton county deputies for security. I got to know the guy because we had a mutual interest in science fiction (and a certain female fan).
