A suspected bias attack on four Jewish subway riders in New York City has resulted in a friendship between the Jewish victims and the Muslim college student who came to their aid.

Walter Adler is calling Hassan Askari a hero for intervening when Adler and three friends were assaulted on a subway train in lower Manhattan on Friday night.

I understand that the train is running anyway and stopping at all stations, like a Shabbos elevator. A Shabbos elevator runs anyway, continuously. You simply walk in when the door closes and it stops at all floors until you get to you floor and you walk out.

Hence, kosher cruises. The ship/ train is going there anyway, and you are doing nothing to promote it's movement... you are simply along for the ride.

There is also a Chofetz Chaim precedent.

I do. The "Christian" attacker was an obvious meathead of the first water. The footage of him on the news last night revealed a not too bright individual with a bad attitude. I feel sorry for his parents.

There are morons working for the P.D. in the NYC Subways and at the Port Authority Bus Terminal too.

The most hostile and rude of all New Yorkers I ran into while take mass transit were the ones who were paid to be there.
