f legislation approved by the state Assembly Monday becomes law, it would be the largest overhaul of a health care system ever undertaken by a state. The legislation also would require insurance companies to offer coverage to Californians with pre-existing medical conditions.

The landmark measure that would provide coverage to most uninsured Californians cleared its first major hurdle when it was approved along party lines in the Democratic-controlled lower house.

If the Senate approves the bill and voters agree to pay for it, it would extend coverage to nearly 70 percent of the state's permanently uninsured and require most Californians to buy health insurance.

Californians should be thrilled, I'm sure by this wonderful news! The dirty secret about ArnoldCare is it would extend health insurance to illegals - who are the uninsured in California. And the state's taxpayers would take it up the shorts. I don't think the voters will want to accept the arrangement.

Same here in MA. Illegals continue in their status as “Free Riders”. Meanwhile American citizens become indentured servants to the Insurance Lobby.

Right. We're asked to pay to support people who can and ought to take care of their own health. Since when did that become our responsibility?

I’m sure the big insurance companies will be thrilled to get their hands into the taxpayer’s pocket, that bottomless source of government revenue because they can take your home and your business and throw you in jail if you don’t pay up.

If you can’t take care of yourself, don’t expect us to do it for you!

Of course. This bill left out a funding mechanism because there was no way Republicans would vote for it. I'd like to see Red Arnold and the Democrats sell higher taxes to Californians who already have health insurance. It ain't gonna fly.

This will be a huge magnet to attract more illegals than we have now. Especially with other states cracking down on illegals.

It will also lead more companies and middle class folks to desert California. That will worsen California's fiscal crisis but the political class doesn't care. An $18 billion deficit didn't deter them from recklessly saddling the state with the biggest entitlement program in California history.

Yes, everyone will be covered. They just won’t have access to care, because demand will soar while the supply remains constant. Won’t we all feel better then?

When the proponents of these measures said that everyone will visit their PCP once a year, I did the math. Doctor would have to work 24/7 in order to spend 85 seconds with each patient. That’s some quality care.
Oh, and Illegal Aliens will not have to inform the DOR on their Tax Form what Health Plan they have. Only Gringos have to. I find this to be a violation of the HIPPA Law. Oh well, as the 13th Amendment goes, so goes the 14th.

The California plan not imposes massive new taxes, it gives free health care to illegals! The proponents think the voters will love such a one-two punch combo. In reality, they're fooling themselves.
