TxDOT sets public hearings, town hall meetings on I-69

Texas Department of Transportation officials have scheduled a series of town hall meetings in January and February in 11 locations along the proposed I-69/Trans Texas Corridor, with a panel of department officials slated to be on hand to answer specific questions from citizens.

According to a press release from TxDOT, Lufkin's town hall meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Pitser Garrison Civic Center.

"The town halls should not be confused with the upcoming public hearings on the I-69/TTC project," the news release said.

Last month, the department released the draft environmental impact statement on the project, and TxDOT has scheduled 46 public hearings for February to gather specific comments on the environmental aspects of the proposed project.

"The purpose of the public hearings is to provide information about a project and take comments on the project," the news release said. "The town hall format will give TxDOT officials the opportunity to better answer transportation policy questions and address other items of interest and concern to most citizens."

Upcoming TxDOT public hearings in Angelina County regarding the I-69/TTC Tier One draft environmental impact statement are scheduled for the Lottie & Arthur Temple Civic Center in Diboll on Feb. 11 and the Pitser Garrison Civic Center in Lufkin on Feb. 12.

Interesting how this is apparently just a done deal. I guess there simply isn’t anything that’s going to be able to stop it. I pity the future generations, particularly of any remaining Anglo/European Americans, who will have to live with the results.

“The purpose of the public hearings is to . . . . . . . . take comments on the project,”

Which we will summarily ignore and put the commentor’s name on a list of persons to be investigated at a later date.

It is up to Texans to elect a Representative who will stop this.

One of TXDOT’s big reasons for this project; Hurricane Evac.

Trouble is the road never gets far enough away from the coast to do any good.
