This is something I would like to see Thompson do a lot more: smile. I’m afraid he looked morose and almost unhealthy in the debate I saw. A successful candidate doesn’t have to have the lightweight foolishness of the Huckster, but it helps to be like Reagan—cheerful, optimistic, and principled at the same time.

You both don't like the way Fred has campaigned but you like his message? Well, shouldn't that be enough? Conservatives have complained about not having a conservative candidate for years. We have a very good one now.

Everyone is an expert on what other people should do, especially so in elections. It seems to me it takes great courage on Fred's part to do things his way and not listen to the chattering class. It has served him quite well to this point.

You can complain about a few positions or stances, but Fred is a conservative and a federalist. That stands out. What also stands out is that he is his own man, a man that will not be swayed by pundits or conventional wisdom. That is precisely what we need fiscally, socially and especially militarily going forward.

Fred has most definitely answered his countries call and I applaud him for that.
