Fred Thompson is heading back into the top tier. At this rate, he’ll finish at least a strong third place, and being the top vote-getter isn’t inconceivable.

At this point, with all the mutual destruction done to McCain, Romney, and Huckabee, I’m not sure its going to matter how Fred does in Iowa.

Iowa, after what I’ve seen this year, seems to be more a test of candidate promotional systems in Iowa than it is any indication of which candidate really has any kind of lead nationally.

I’m not naive enough to think that those two things are unrelated, but caucusing and voting are two very different things in my mind.

If FDT finishes 2nd 3rd it is as good as a win. Remember Clinton lost his first 5 or so primaries, until it came South. Frankly these Iowa/NH contests are quite stupid. The South and the West determine the nominee and the President in this country.
