Hillary's premature triangulation
Chicago Sun Times ^ | 1/3/08 | ROBERT NOVAK

Sen. Hillary Clinton faces tonight's Iowa caucuses not as the inevitable Democratic presidential nominee but seriously challenged by Sen. Barack Obama, thanks in no small part to committing a strategic error: premature triangulation. The problem is reflected by what happened to a proposal for a simplified, though sweeping, health care plan.

One longtime Democratic consultant, not involved in any campaign this time, suggested that Clinton propose a genuine universal health care scheme. Everybody would be covered by Medicare, except people who chose to retain their private health insurance plans. The consultant gave the idea to somebody close to the senator, but the intermediary refused to pass it on to the candidate. He said it never would get beyond Mark Penn and his strategy of triangulation.

Penn, a professional pollster who was political adviser to President Bill Clinton, is chief strategist for the Clinton campaign. He has embraced triangulation -- coming over as a third force somewhere between liberal and conservative poles. To many Democratic operatives, Penn's triangulation prematurely introduced a general election strategy, when in fact the party nomination was still in doubt.

Triangulation was Bill Clinton’s strategy to govern with a Republican Congress, not an electoral blueprint.

Visual: Hildabeast drop kicks Mark Penn and his strategy of triangulation (which she and Bubba, no doubt, approved) ...BUT Hildabeast and Bubba never take responsibility for their own mistakes... Can you say doofus?... lol

We know she didn't have a Plan B for the Universal Health Care debacle in 1993 - 94... Wonder if she has a Plan B for losing Iowa and New Hampshire?

She can hire Mark Cuban who can do for her what he did for ‘Redacted’.

Hillary's premature triangulation

Well, with the appropriate drugs and a good psychotherapist, I'm sure she'll be fine.

Horse hockey. Her problem is she is an idiot who flies off at the handle anytime she isn’t bowed down to. her political career has always relied on keeping her out of the public eye, and that is no longer possible. Her gaffes and anger will become more apparent as the primaries get rolling.

"Her problem is she is an idiot who flies off at the handle anytime she isn’t bowed down to."

True... plus she's a pathological liar... and she plays the gender card when she makes a mistake as if ALL women are responsible for her words and actions... That's downright irritating to this professional woman !!!!

Hillary's the woman who's lying, flying off the handle, and making mistakes...

...her political career has always relied on keeping her out of the public eye, ...

Recall the 1992 campaign.

After she made her comments about "two for the price of one" and disparaging stay-at-home moms who baked cookies, Bill's popularity started dropping; someone then apparently told her that if she didn't STFU, Bill wouldn't be elected, and she disappeared for several months, reemerging to do ribbon-cuttings at shopping center openings and such.

No, he used it in 1992 as long (as lying counts as triangulating). Remember how he pretended to want to lower taxes and that he thought the government was too big. For a dem, that is triangulation.

Not only has Novak laid out his prediction for Shrillary’s third place finish.
He’s gone ahead and explained why. Very interesting.

So let it be written; so let it be done. :)
