"...lifting that PC curtain on Islam and its jihadist tenets is precisely the effect of Stephen Coughlin's Pentagon brief. It goes against what political correctness tells us; it also goes against what Islamic advocacy groups tell us."

And the voices of objection crescendo even louder.

Query? When are "Ingra-Limb-O'Reil-Itty" going to start talking about this? I guess they're like the MSM where since the War on Terror is going well they don't want to talk about it.

Purple, you did not do her justice.

The year is 1942. The place, the Pentagon. A Berlin-born aide to the U.S. deputy secretary of defense has learned that a military intelligence officer has not only read Hitler's Mein Kampf, but is lecturing senior officers about Hitler's heretofore unexamined goals of world domination.

This schweinhunt must go. At least, that's what the German-born staffer thinks. Did I mention he's fluent in German? That's partly why the Deputy SecDef relies so heavily on his aide's judgment on all things German, particularly when it comes to the War on Nazism's German outreach program. This program brings Nazi apologists into the inner sanctum of the American war machine...

Sound crazy?

Travel forward to 1973. The Deputy SecDef's Soviet-born, Russian-speaking aide is gunning for the one intelligence officer who has boned up on Marx, Engels and Soviet military doctrine. Why? Because the officer refuses to "soften" his brief on communist ideology, and is presenting it to the military leadership — now hearing it for the first time since the Cold War began. If communist plans for global domination become common knowledge, the aide realizes, gazing thoughtfully at a poster-size photo of Soviet mouthpiece Vladimir Posner on his office wall, the Pentagon will change strategy and halt the U.S.S.R. outreach program, which gives commie symps Pentagon access...

Totally outlandish, right?

What is cited as political correctness is actually a brazen attempt to cover the truth with lies. War is always full of misinformation, lies, distortion, and deceit. In this case, the good guys are being eaten, while aid and comfort is being given to the enemy.

MAJ Coughlin should not have been removed

We will never win the WOT if we are not being honest about Islam. We need to stop placating Islamic hate groups and get serious on Islamic hatred.

“Religion of peace” mantra will get a lot of us killed

The Pentagon is more concerned with political correctness than protecting the nation

What strikes me about this is how the Joint Staff rolled over for the DepSecDef. They didn’t have to terminate the guy just because England wanted them to. They could have said no very easily. Mullen and Cartwright will be around long after England gets his pink slip at the end of this administration.

“...the Joint Staff rolled over for the DepSecDef.”

Something is very odd here. I’m not convinced that they rolled. Since Coughlin was a contractor, who owned his contract? Who was the COR? They’re the ones with hire/fire authority. Could be CJCS could be someone else.

IRT Mullen and Cartwright will be around long after.

Maybe you’re half right. Each term is only two years with their two years up in Oct09 (and with a new administration)

Being that Mullen was born in ‘46, he will be a year past the mandatory retirement age of 62 and in need of a waiver. (There’s that whole “time of war” stuff but whether we officially/constitutionally are is up to the legal beagles.)

Interesting. The thing to keep in mind is that along with killing as many extremists as possible, we need moderate Muslims as allies. Bush is right - the only ultimate solution to our war with Muslims is democracy in the Middle East.

Making every Muslim an enemy will only lengthen the war. Don’t know what happened here, but I would like to hear Mr. England’s side of the story.

I think that in Islam (especially the Wahbbism used by A-Q and the other jihadists) the phrase “moderate Muslims” does not exist.

I think that is part of the analysis Coughlin’s trying to making that got Hashem Islam’s knickers in a knot.

If true (as Gertz reported), Mullen rolled for England’s “advisor.”

Sad.

True, but there are moderate Muslims who just want to make money and live in peace (i.e. the majority of Iraqis). We need those guys on our side, and they need democracy, or there will be no end to it.

That is what Bush is trying to do. This story may be pure political correctness, or there may be more subtle motives as work that we are not seeing because we don’t have both sides of the story.
