This article is a good analysis of the situation. Without Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson in the picture, Mike Huckabee seems to be the best choice that is left.

Romney for me, I don’t think Huckabee has what it takes right now to be President but I will certainly pull his lever if it comes down to between him and any of the Dem’s running.

Huckabee is like a pro-life John Edwards.

Sorry, but Fred's supporters are mostly going to Mitt or staying home. A few with go to Huckabee, but that will be less than 20%.

We are talking about FRedHeads ????

Y’OK...

A REAL FRedHead would never go for RINO Romney

If a “FRedHead moved on to RINO Romney....

1. They did not agree with FRed on the issues

2. They are not a REAL conservative themselves

No conservative would deliberately toss aside their conservative principles and values to vote for liberal Romney or any of the other RINOs left in the GOP lineup...

Vote your conscience ?????

Things go Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I’m going to Romney because he’s the best of the rest IMHO.

“Where do Fred Thompson supporters go from here?”

Home? Third party? Whatever.

The Republican wing of the Republican Party is no longer represented in the current presidential election.

I am not voting for Huckabee. Ever.

My kids are going to go to a Baptist school. It’s not the religious aspect of his candidacy. Though, I must say that I’m not enthused by some of his previous social proposals.

He just seems way too slimy, like another Governor from AK we had as POTUS.

As for myself, where do I go after Fred? Ron Paul. Yes, many of you think he’s a loon — but he stands for all the underlying principles that made this country great. His Big Sin is his opposition to the War in Iraq.

I’d rather desert Iraq than cede any more ground to the enemy at home. I don’t need socialized medicine, perks for children of illegals, etc...

Sorry, I'll hold my nose and vote for Mitt.

Huck is just another MeCain.

The Republican party is turning into a bunch of pro-life socialists. No Huckabee for me.

I can wish that Hunter and Thompson had stayed in the race, but they didn’t. I can wish more Repubs had supported them, but they didn’t.

So, as always you choose from among the humans who are running, warts clay feet and all, choose the best man from among the men available, and expect to have to keep pushing every day he’s in office to keep him from giving away the store. You can’t wait for a hero to emerge, republics aren’t based on rule by heros, but rather rule by the rather ordinary folk who aspire to office, and hopefully well-supervised by their constituents. Thats us.

There is no magic formula.

For me, the best man remaining is Romney, but if you’re convinced its one of the others, I’ll not argue too much. They are all a mixed bag. I like Giuliani, but not for president, he’d make a superb UN ambassador. Bolton would be my preference at State, Petraus or Franks at Defense, and someone with a big firehose at CIA.
