Valentine's Day came early this year in Camp Clinton.
Love is the reason Bill Clinton has gone wild on the trail, turning his red-faced rage at Barack Obama's presidential campaign and reporters on a serial basis, he explained Thursday. It was his answer to a female voter in South Carolina who urged him to "stop taking the bait from Obama."
"When I was running, I didn't give a rip what anybody said about me," he said. "It's weird, you know, but if you love somebody and you think that they'd be good, it's harder."
He blasted Obama recently as a closeted Ronald Reagan fan who loves GOP ideas, accusing his campaign of intimidating voters in Nevada and injecting race into the contest.
Clinton's profile in his wife's campaign has risen so high that he accused Obama's team of putting out a "hit job" on him last year in the form of nasty opposition research given to reporters.
Hillary Clinton had no idea what "hit job" he was talking about. "He was thinking about something. You'll have to ask him what he means," she said yesterday, adding that the former President was angry over an Obama aide's "outrageous" comparison of him recently to infamous bare-knuckled GOP campaigner Lee Atwater.
The former First Lady defended her husband's fiery broadsides against Obama.
"We're in a very heated campaign, and people are coming out and saying all kinds of things," she told The Associated Press. "I'm out there every day making a positive case for my candidacy. I have a lot of wonderful people, including my husband, who are out there making the case for me."
Obama kept his finger on the political trigger and put up a radio ad saying Hillary Clinton will "say anything" to get elected.
"This is a tough, well-honed political machine built up over the course of 20 years," he said.
He also said fending off the Clintons will help down the road.
All the mudslinging is "good practice for the Republicans," Obama quipped.
Obama is leading Hillary Clinton in the latest MSNBC/McClatchy South Carolina poll, 38% to 30% - with 36% of white Democrats going for Clinton and 59% of blacks breaking for Obama.

Yea, if he loves her so much why was he offering government jobs to any skank who would do him. How many $100,000+ a year jobs did he get Lewinsky so she could call him the big creep. And if he loved her so much why did he leave her bed to engage in phone sex with Lewinsky. The were over 100 phone calls between Lewinsky and the White House. Clinton testified under oath that they were phone sex.
If you love someone you don’t run around like a dog in heat.
Makes you wonder just what he expects to get out of it.
Lust prompts him, but it isn’t for the Rodham-rodent! He’s worried that he won’t get to ride her pantsuitails back into the white HOuse.
Does he love her soooooo much, he’s gonna find a new intern to give him another BJ!
Shouldn’t there be a MEGA BARF ALERT or something of the sort on this thread?
BJ is just in love with power.
Did his love for Hillary spur his liasons with Monica?
Wow, I simply thought she was throwing ashtrays, lamps, and anything she could grab at him for motivation.
Or does she simply do this when he needs to STOP the bad behavior rather than begin it?
The only person that sorry sob loves is himself.
Baloney - the only thing either one of them loves is “POWER” - they are addicted to it...and will do anything to regain it!
Well, Billy, since I LOLed when I only saw the headline, I don’t think that spin is gonna fly.
When, oh when, will we be mercifully spared from this tedium?
If he doesn’t know what is is, how does he know what love is?
