My apologies for being so late for the Dose. We had an emergency come up

President Bush flew with Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao to Baltimore MD this morning to discuss the Jericho Faith-Based and Community Initiative Program Transcript

As promised last night, President Bush signed an executive order Protecting American Taxpayers from Government Spending on Wasteful Earmarks

This evening President Bush met in the Cabinet room with Joint Chiefs and Combatant Commanders

THE PRESIDENT: Mr. Secretary, thank you very much. Mr. Chairman, we're glad you're here. The Vice President and I welcome you all. One of the highlights of my year is to meet with combatant commanders and the Joint Chiefs. We'll have a visit here in the Cabinet Room, talking about the war on terror and the ideological struggle that we're engaged in. We'll talk about our common desire to protect America and how best to do so. And then we're going to have dinner with your spouses, and Laura and I are really looking forward to having you upstairs.

I love our military, and the reason I do is because the character of those who wear our uniform, whether they be the general or the private, is remarkable. We're a nation that has produced people who are willing to volunteer in the face of danger. Thank goodness. And as a result, we are a nation in the lead, helping defend this world against extremists who murder the innocent to achieve an ideological objective.

And our military is compassionate, as well. I'm looking forward to the stories from our commanders who will share with us the great compassion of our soldiers, whether it's to provide relief from a disaster, or to help some child recognize the beauty of going to school.

And so I want to thank you for coming, and thank you for serving, and I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

Enoy your visit to Sanity Island

He has always been honest with his problems. It was the
media that wanted to make it seem that he was hiding
something!

I loved that moment when he rescues the SS guy! That says it all about his character!

Of course the media ignores anything the president does that is positive

Thanks

I haven't even looked today at the other threads. In one of the threads yesterday, they did nothing but bash the President. You would have thought they cam all over from DU or Daily Kos

Speaking about SS guys, I hope our favorite one accompanies W and Laura to Africa in Feb. I didn’t see any pics of him on the Middle East tour.

“Girls love their dad, especially a redeemed dad,” said Bush, father of 26-year-old twins Jenna and Barbara.

Thank you for the Link to the Excellent Article, DrDeb, and Thank you for the Dose, Kaslin!

I’m thinking you are right, there’s more Bush haters here now than people who love and respect him...i rarely go to any other thread, it’s just not worth it anymore. If they can twist anything into being Bush’s fault they do it, and I’m sick of it!

I was on one for a while but had to ignore a lot of bickering.

Some of those people just can’t be civil! That’s why I mostly
stayed here! :D

Thank you, Kas ... don't worry about the hour. We understand ... ;)

snugs, I'm torn between these pictures on a BIG plasma screen TV. He and VP Cheney, smiling, under those precious words, is stirring.

I'll let you choose .. I just can't make up my mind .. ;*

The smiling lady in the forefront obviously said something to him that elicted that cute, flirty smile of his.

I guess I don’t have a “favorite” secret service guy.

Whoever he is, I hope he takes good care of our president
when he’s out of the safety of home!

They were jumping to conclusions in the thread that I saw, before they had any facts. It was disgusting

Oh thanks, Deb. Watching “the pitch”
again and the entire description and
film of that breathtaking event brings
back the same tears and gratitude for
this man.

I was referring to Nick, the SS guy that W “rescued” in Chile when Chilean security was trying to keep him outside the building that W was in.

Tears here too. I guess I’m just really feeling nostalgic after watching the last SOTU. It is disheartening how ugly things have become since that world series pitch. How soon people forgot what a strong wonderful president W is and how he has kept this nation secure. I dread November.

I guess it’s really true.

Rarely is a great man
recognized in his own time.

The task will be left to
future honest historians
to write this story.
