Maybe my assumption of Rush's power as well as the rest of the Jaw Bone Media was a bad analogy.

With respect, what are you talking about, Rush's "power"? The man has never sought power or wielded it -- his humility precludes his ability to even try. All he does is faithfully reflect the same kind of common-sense conservative political thinking that I embrace, and it's why I've been listening to him pretty well consistently since the early 1990s. Meanwhile, I've sampled for various periods of time Hugh Hewitt, Laura Ingraham, Michael Medved, Dennis Miller, and Sean Hannity, and after anywhere from a few months to a few years, they eventually have revealed themselves as missing the real point of conservatism, in my book, but assuming a mantle of authority with little humility and certainly like self-described king-makers, a failing I'd have a hard time guarding against as well, in their situation. All the more reason why I admire Rush so much.
While I often find Rush annoying and moody and will skip him for a week or two at a time simetimes, those moods are always regarding cosmetic things; the principle remains undisturbed because it is a core thing that he doesn't just believe -- he understands the dignity of conservatism.
The actual power is with we the listeners. As it happens, Rush's thinking resonated with millions and millions and has stayed resonant. We're the ones that put him there, not the other way around.
