Zogby: Romney Leads In California
riehlworldview.com ^ | February 3, 20087 | Unk.

You can pick your polls and the result, but with the largest sampling, Reuters/Zogby now has Romney over McCain by 3 in California. California assigns delegates by district. Romney's been pushing for a split there.

Zogby is less optimistic on Romney in Missouri, while other polls show the race tightening to 3 - 4 points. Missouri is winner take all, with 58 delegates. The polls are split on the margin for McCain.

Three things may be working against McCain completely breaking away right now. As Mona Charen points out, rather than looking like a gracious front runner, he's been showing a certain arrogance, particularly in a recent debate. Additionally, many vocal conservatives seem to have finally discovered Mitt Romney, what with their fear of a McCain presidency.

Finally, many of the state contests slated for Tuesday assign delegates by county, or district. That could allow Romney to stay competitive in the delegate count, regardless of who wins the state. But it's unclear if there's enough momentum behind Romney to keep McCain from breaking out.

If McCain is the GOP nominee, then Republican will get blown out of Congress. This race isn’t just about president. It is also for one-third of the Senate and all of the House.

Liberals will come out to vote for... Democrats.
Moderates will come out to vote for McCain and... Democrats.
Conservatives will stay home and not vote for anyone.

When it’s all over, Democrats will have a filibuster-proof Super Majority in the Senate, and margins so wide in the House that the liberals will run amok.
Republican governors will fall across the country.

This is what McCain brings to the GOP ticket. This is his unseen legacy in the GOP.

I agree with the apocalyptic analysis if McCain is the nominee. It’s up to conservatives on super Tuesday to stop the madness. If they do not we deserve the hell on earth we will receive.

Putting it mildly. He had the strangest leer on his face, like some lunatic, when Romney was speaking. My longstanding opinion of McCain as a nutcase has only grown more certain.

Time Magazine puts a gracious and dignified looking McCain on its cover this week. Politicians, pundits, and governors all endorse him. I can see why the Dems and the media are backing him, because they know they can blow him out of the water.

But God knows why the Republican establishment is backing him. They are such jerks. If concern for our country matters nothing to them, you’d think they’d at least be interested in winning the elections. That’s their own pork and gravy they are throwing into the sewer.

Regardless of who you support, make sure to vote in the new FR poll:

"Which GOP presidential hopeful do you want to see win the most delegates on Super Tuesday?"

Member Opinion
Mitt Romney 75.8% 964
Ron Paul 11.3% 143
Mike Huckabee 8.0% 102
John McCain 4.9% 62
100.0% 1,271

Oh, crap.

Reality is the opposite of what Zogby says.

This doesn’t bode well.

A vote for McCain is a vote for T. Kennedy and John Kerry.

Zogby was accurate in FL. He projected McCain by 3. McCain won by 5.

I was watching Fox news a couple hours ago and they had all the talking heads saying it was over for Romney. They didn’t mention his lead in Calif or his overwhelming win in Maine. I am thoroughly disgusted with Fox’s pimping for McCain.

He was wrong in Michigan and a few other states, though, not to mention that he’s been way off in the past. (Kerry over Bush, anyone?)

How reliable is Zogby?

I have never found Zogby to be reliable; but, I suppose, there is a first time for everything.

For once, I would like Zogby to be right. McCain losing California would be a perfect poke in the eye for California's RINO governor and his endorsement of the McChurian Candidate.

A colleague of mine has been besieged by robo-calls from both McCain and Romney. You can tell they really want to button things up in the Granola State.

Pray for a brokered convention. McInsane and Slick Williard are both liberals and those who say otherwise also believe that denial is a river in Eqypt.
