$90,000.00. Southern California. Self-Employed.
Subtract $30,000.00 for state and federal taxes.
That’s $60,000.00.
Subtract $12,000.00 for $1,000/month student loands.
That’s $48,000.00.
$4,000.00 per month to support a family in southern california.
The AVERAGE house in my area is $550,000. That’s a monthly mortgage of $3,500.00.

So, $90,000.00 for a youngish professional who is working his ass off, in southern california, with student loans, is not enough money to afford a mortgage.

But, I’m exempted from receiving a stimulus check (with money they are taking from me in the first place?)

Such BS.

I suspected that it was somewhere not in the country.

Even in NY that would be enough, but likely whatever you’re doing wouldn’t pay that well here.

And then there’s the weather.....

Under similar circumstances in Hawaii, I became a fiscal conservative. I relate totally to your story!

Ya know you shouldn’t have to even say any of this anyway. I don’t care if you’re making $100k or $100 Million. The principle is the same. Government taking X of your money, blowing some amount W (for waste) on themselves, and now giving Y back to someone who didn’t pay X.

I mean... it’s institutionalized THEFT!

Looters, and Moochers. Atlas Shrugged. Nothing more nothing less.

May I infer from this that you are married?

If so, the cut-off isn't 75K. It's 150K. Actually, I don't think that is quite accurate; that's where eligibility begins to phase out.

I don't know whether both husband and wife have to have some income to be eligible. Initially there was talk that each person would need 3K of income (not necessarily wages) but I don't know what ultimately became of that.

So move into a smaller house. Why do you NEED an average house. Get a smaller one.

$4,000.00 per month to support a family in southern california. So, $90,000.00 for a youngish professional who is working his ass off, in southern california, with student loans, is not enough money to afford a mortgage. The stimulus package gives $1,200 to a married couple if their total imcome is less than $150,000. Sounds like you would qualify since you have a famlily.
