Reminds me of the old Ford engine that Ford stopped manufacturing because it wasn’t breaking down enough to be financially pragmatic (as in the cost of repairs). Same concept here I guess. Semi-stable product = semi-unstable profit.

What is even worse is a forced upgrade to IE7 with this month’s patches. :(

Make the jump to Mozilla Firefox and you’ll never look back.

So June 30 is now the official date for end of sales? That's a lot later than the original plan was. I bought my last desktop in November 2006 to avoid the impending release of Vista. Looks like I'll have to purchase my replacement laptop in the next couple months.

ROTFLMAO!

True a computer with vista sells for half as much as as one with XP on ebay.

It will still be for sale. Heck, Windows 2000 is still for sale. You just won’t be able to get it pre-installed from Dell. That’s a benefit in my opinion.

? Try and find software that runs on more than one version of Linux/Unix. Apple, please that is the same as the eccentric aunt coming over for tea. Those will never hold the market as long as there are x number of versions out there.

I am not a MS-bot by any means but they have the market via one version of their OS, so resistance is futile.

“Spalding: “I wanna cheeseburger, I wanna hot dog...”
Judge (Father): “Spalding! You’ll get nothing and like it!””

Love that movie. Once slight correction. Judge Smailes was Spalding’s grandfather, not father.

Look into Fedora 8. Most intuitive version of GNU/Linux I’ve used yet.

My brother used to use that line a lot on his son. Fortunately, the kid grew out of that stage where he wanted everything he saw.

Of my last 2 laptops: one has XP Pro, the other is Vista. My chief complaint with Vista (& the MS Office that goes with it) is that they completely changed the menus making it impossible to work with. Why’d they have to do this? I like the XP machine because the menus are close to my Win2K desktops, but I have to hunt for everything with Vista.

Truth be told, I’d be a lot further along the learning curve with Vista by now if I didn’t have (& prefer) the XP machine.

Fortunately (maybe unfortunately) I’m just old enough to remember it, but never had the pleasure of driving one. However, I do maintain one of those Ford engines in my 86 full sized Ford Bronco 4x4. A quart of oil every now and then along with changing it every three months and BBBWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I’m hauling something other than donuts with a hole in the middle of it.

I like Fedora and Ubuntu, although I find it easier to customize things in Fedora. :)
