My hope is that in learning this desire is born in the hope for a Messiah, he will come to realize He's already been here.

His Jewish upbringing gave him all the tools he needs to understand Man's nature and Adam's sin. But it brought him no means of redemption. Jesus brought grace and forgiveness; not knowledge of good and evil. I've often said that while God is not a conservative, Satan is almost certainly a liberal.

But it brought him no means of redemption.

You may believe that such is true, but he doesn't. The Jewish understanding of redemption is very different than typical Christian doctrine. Not a strong argument, because it is grounded in the legitimacy of Y'shua being the Messiah, which he would reject as idolatrous.

I've often said that while God is not a conservative, Satan is almost certainly a liberal.

The propensity to a subjective sense of reality is inherent to liberal emoting, er... "thought." It is making G-d in their image, effectively to be little tin gods themselves. Such IS the essence of Satan's pitch, the source of identity of which you speak.
