Even the happiest of couples will disagree at times. Rabbi Shmuley Boteach presents some advice for managing conflict and keeping civility in your marriage. Better to have peace in the house and to feel close to a loved one than to feel distant from them and be lonely. God created marriage since its not good for two people to be alone in this world.

Indeed, having no disagreements at all might be a sign that your marriage has entered the dangerous "doppelganger" realm where you have become so alike that you are fused into the same person. Or the even more dangerous "absolutely indifferent" realm.

My only addition:
Keep the argument in context. If the point is trivial, the ‘fight’ should reflect that. If the fight started trivial and you’re breaking out the heavy weapons, you’ve both already lost. Do you really want to die on this hill?
Need to give credit were due: my x-wife taught me that one....the hard way.

Well said. I’ve always admired Rabbi Shmuley’s wisdom. Too bad I never got into his show.

Good wisdom from the Rabbi. I might add this: a married man can always be right, or he can be happy, but not both. Compromise, compromise, compromise!
